I think it's easy to look back at old NO LP's through rose-tinted glasses. There were great tracks, but Movement and PC&L were patchy old affairs. It wasn't till Lowlife that they made a great album as far as I'm concerned. I saw them yesterday and despite horrible sound (thanx to their man at mixing desk :-( ) they were truly inspired and fantastic. As innuendo and my biggest pleasure was music from PA. It was set of new 4AD hope Scott Walker!! Pluramon played in combination - guitar, synths and drums and they realy post-rocked!!! Julle Cruise is integral part of album and she sound dreamy, ethereal, however..after instrumental song at the beginning, they played their best biggest hit Cocteau twins never record " It;s beatifull time for your life"!! brilliant.. In fcat many influences you can hear in their music..from Ride,' CT till to most mentioned My Bloody Valentine..some people called them only followers of MBV legacy and that MBV will sound exactly like this if Kevin Shields wasn't occupied with eating so much pies.. In one song, completely instrumental they remind me on my fave Mogwai, noise was so strong that my girlfriend leave venue with pain in ears, but drive was fantastic..real kraut-rock, after all Pluramon are germans..!!!! There was two encores-first one with Julee material from Floating Into The Night, and second one with new Pluramon song (very shoe-gazing ) and another version of Beatiful Time (well, i will called it MBV version). there is not so much about Pluramon on NET, and i was dissapointed that they didn't sell their goods (so i must find this regular album and one with Sonic Youth, Mogwai remixes). and it seems apart from that there will ge a good season.. two Godspeed fractions have albums (Silver Mt.Zion and Et-sans..) all the best.. ps. Yes GR is very, very nice album.. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Mar 2005 10:57:02 -0000 From: "Keith A" Subject: [idealcopy] The New Nightingales Single The latest 7" single from the re-formed Nightingales is now available. And it's a must - their best since they reformed, in fact. (Yep, it's even better than last years wonderful Workshy Wunderkind). Devil In The Detail was one of the (many) highlights of their live performance last year, and it's a great single, too. You wanna know what it sounds like? Well, Paraffin Brain it isn't, because with all that incessant riffing over a ferocious, yet toe-tapping beat, it's like Cook & Jones joining Neu for a not so quick run through of Paranoid. Meanwhile, singer Robert Lloyd adopts what is - for him - almost an Iggy-like drawl on top of it all. OK, the competition might be limited, but it's undoubtedly my single of the year so far. Six and a half minutes of bliss. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tina.kidd/nightingales.html (Details of p&p in newsletter 4) ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V8 #82 ******************************
