I never use it to recreate vintage-amp sounds because I'm not interested - besides, they don't even come close. Indeed not for purists. Besides that it provides a cool wide range of possibillities to twiddle and combine FX. I also got mine secondhand (version 1) and am quite pleased with it. Not sure what the newer version has for extras, but I know I don't really need any. I sold it when I got the Pod and I kinda regret not keeping it just for the range of voice FX.
