Had an email off someone who saw them at Manchester and he was full of praise. > like the album , just a bit of fun really but i enjoyed it more than most of > what's been released this year. Yeah, it's great fun. There's at least 3 great tracks on disc one - the Daft Punk namedropping opener, the early 80's synth one (Tribulations) - which I can't believe Mr Lynn doesn't like! - and On Repeat. And then there's Losing My Edge on disc 2. Love it!! And just to get on topic...did anyone see Paul Morleys review in (I think) The Observer. It was typical Morley in it's descriptions, one of which - presumably referring to the Beatlish one on the album - was Wire paying tribute to ELO!! > bit like death in vegas , i think the tongue > in cheekness of it all works well (neither band hits the mark consistently > but they've both had some great highs). I think last years DIV album is superb. A real return to form after the rather patchy Scorpio Rising set, and definitely one of my fave albums of last year. Amongst the questions were ones re the 24 Hour Party People movie, which Barney reckoned was pretty accurate - though one exception was that Tony Wilson was even more pretentious. But then I guess that's no surprise!!
