Bit of a faff having to send my first delivery back to PE before I got a replacement, but for my trouble i've now got two Pink Flag badges! Fair do's! Anyway. This DVD is an excellent document of this most recent version of Wire...for my money this is the 'Send' set with Wire on peak form. Plus four superbly executed items from their debut. The final track being an excellent meltdown of Drill/Pink Flag finally captured on audio/visual. A job well done. The performance is terrific, and Colin has done an excellent job with the sound. Its quite a wacky mix, quite bonkers and with little regard to audiophile conventions in a way that perhaps only Kevin Shields does these days. Good...don't you just love it when Hi-Fi bores get annoyed? I know I do! Anyway its all mixed stupidly loud, and the vocals all seem to have these mad effects on them..not sure if they were done during the gig or added afterwards but sounds good anyway. Film is great, as promised the cameras zoom around all over the place... lots of ace moments.... Colin waving his lyric sheet around and dancing wildly during 99.9 he keeps his glasses on throughout, and the Wire put to shame bands 15-20 years younger with the sheer energy captured here. Brilliantly captures the human drum-machine that is Mr Gotobed. Zoom in on Grahams bass strings...look at him go! You hear a really strident, kick arse guitar riff come in at several points.....camera cuts over to good old Brucie standing absolutely stock still, with a look on his face like he's performing a very complex surgical operation. Camera lowers to his frantically thrashing hands seemingly independent of his motionless body....and you then realise who's playing the massive riff! The footage from Flag:burning is from a single fixed camera (presumably the same one that feeds into foyer & bar area at the Barbican). It does at least allow those of you who didn't catch the show to see Es Devlins excellent stage presentation, with each member inside their own 'Cell' (all very spinal tap!). Alas Jake & Dinos "Pink Flag" Aerobics class is not captured on camera. Buy! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Feb 2005 20:47:22 -0800 (PST) From: L Subject: [idealcopy] WIRE Hi!!!
