The aim is to create a show which doesn't try to replace Peel (that being more or less impossible), but which maintains his passion - championing diverse, unpredictable and non-commercial new music. The three presenters of OneMusic will be Huw Stephens (Tuesdays), Ras Kwame (Wednesday) and Rod Da Bank (Thursdays), each bringing an equally knowledge of music, but with a specific focus on slightly different genres of music. Commenting on the new strand, which will kick off on 1 Feb, Radio 1 boss Andy Parfitt told reporters: "As a DJ John Peel was unique. Supporting new music and seeking out the unusual was at the heart of what John was about. We have spent a long time debating how best to continue John's work and believe that by having a series of DJs hosting a selection of shows under the One Music title, we will ensure that his legacy lives on." Big, stompy, bombastic, scary Rammstein. I've seen them twice, and I'd see them again. I think their latest,"Reise Reise", is a great return to form after the disappointmen that was "Mutter I read the interveiw with the band that I alluded to in my post, over the course of the weekend, and the difference between the two was apparently that "Mutter" was a cut'n'paste job done with all the individual parts entered on computer, and "Reise , Reise" was put together in the traditional "Trout Mask Replica" m.o., where you lock everyone in the rehearsal room, jam and thrash it out by degrees. (Dunno how 'spritely' it became) The band , it seems, agree with you, that "Mutter" was crap, and R,R, isn't, prob due to this.. Maybe there's *something* that our quartet could twig , here ? ;-) Still can't say what I think of them though, as there wasn't a track on the free CD with the mag. Tired of spam? Yahoo! I cannot purport to have the level of crises in my life that has propelled some of our beloved away from the list (missing Dan already), but I have managed to spread myself entirely too thin. To this end, I want to publicly apologize to Craig Grannell for the lack of time I have had to work for him on Wireviews. I am of course honored to have had anything at all to do with his amazing site, but time has gotten away from me, and I'm frankly trying to find any time for any of the things I once did (the music zine, the album I was working on, sleeping, etc.) THAT said, I am trying to keep my fac193 music zine afloat, and wanted to extend the offer to any of you blokes looking to go down that journo route to write for it (about whatever music you're picking up). I love this group (far more than Rammstein, haha). Presumably thats not correct is it?<< No. They played more Mk2 stuff at Nottingham and the RFH than any subsequent gigs - stuff like Madman's Honey and A serious of snakes that were dropped thereafter, as well as some of the more durable Mk2 songs like Boiling Boy, Silk Skin Paws and Advantage in Height. >>Interesting to see the suited-up Mk II Wire inside what is now the imaginatively named "Manchester Academy 2" (formerly the Debating Hall).
