Better >to be questionable than pc lefty queers. I was intrigued by the sound when the band hit the US (love the low growly voice and great hooks on their break-out Cd Sehnsucht), and wangled a ticket to their big show in NYC. I almost left as soon as I got there because it was WAY overcrowded, but I'm glad I stayed. It was like a WWE show - lots of pyro and great stage antics. Among the highlights were the singer boat-surfing the crowd on a rubber raft while singing Seemann, and whipping out a five-foot penis and spraying the crowd during the S&M song. Lowbrow, but i found it amusing. One of their hits, Du Hast, even got regular play at Yankee Stadium (or was it Shea?) the year it came out. On the radio version of the album were English versions of Du Hast and Engel - don't know why they didn't put them on the regular release. I must admit that to me they were more of a novelty band, not to be taken very seriously, and the later stuff didn't get me like the first one did. At the time they had a big, tight Teutonic sound and great riffs - noisy and fun. The language barrier didn't matter, at least for that one album. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2005 12:54:09 EST From: Eardrumbuz@aol.com Subject: [idealcopy] Re: jfk's bricks (OT*) In a message dated 1/8/05 4:20:44 PM, keith.indoorminer@virgin.net writes: > but googling JFK Airport and > Buckley, reveals there is a Buckley Road nearby in Syracuse, New York so who > knows!! > hehe, this gave me a good chuckle :o) it's probably about as 'nearby' as edinburgh is to london, and if your city traffic is anything like new york's...!!! cheers, paul c.d. *this post is, of course, off topic...but you never know if a wire member will read it...and couldn't you see a future wire song titled jfk's bricks? :o) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2005 12:43:18 -0800 (PST) From: Ari Subject: [idealcopy] I'm gonna be... ......without my computer for a few daze from tomorrow, and as folk are still requesting Dan's address,if I don't respond it's not 'cause I'm ignoring you. I visited Wayland Smithy in '97 or '98. Quite an impressive cromlech, but I found it not as awesome as the nearby Silbury Hill, Avebury or all those other wonderful stonecircles I've seen throughout the South & South-West. Brings VDGG's Nic Potter to mind, remember? Who sold his Cornish Bronze Age burial mound the other year. Anyone know did he succeed? Bart > Wow! Good one Uri.
