Dan, I can't say much that Keith and the others haven't already said by now, but here's hoping that your situation improves. I've enjoyed hanging out with you at The Fall, Buzzcocks, and other shows where we've crossed paths at here in Atlanta and there's definitely going to be an empty space now that the first idealcopyist that I met in person and consider to be a friend is not going to be around. I can't let a fellow fan of zombie movies leave the board so unexpectedly, so here's hoping to hear from you whenever you are able to get in touch. The 2003 novel, Tom Franklin - > Hell At The Breech is quite impressive...I didn't get around to reading it > until 2004. My best reads were... FICTION (no order) THE ROTTERS CLUB - Jonathan Coe Interesting read for anyone who grew up in the 70's. THE WRONG BOY - Willy Russell Patchy, but the endless Morrissey references kept me going! ABERYSTWYTH MON AMOUR - Malcolm Pryce Quite amusing to start off with, though this started to get on my nerves in the end. THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG AT THE NIGHTTIME - Mark Haddon The murder of a dog investigated by a teenager with Aspergers. Funny and moving. MONEY MONEY MONEY - Ed McBain Good crime caper. And, best of all, even though I haven't finished it yet. FUNNYMEN - Ted Heller This, by Joseph's little lad, really is a superb read. It tells the tale of a comedy double act from the point of view of their manager, friends, relatives, contemporaries etc almost talking head style. The duo - Fountain & Bliss are a Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis type duo - with Vic Fountain as the crooner with dodgy connections, and Ziggy Bliss as the real Lewis-like funnyman - albeit a Lewis-like funnyman with such an enormous 'schlock' that his wife required surgery. Extremely entertaining - somewhere up there, Joseph Heller must be very proud. NON-FICTION SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES AUTHORISED BIOGRAPHY - Mark Paytress Told in their own words. A good read but by the end I just wanted to tell them - Siouxsie in particular as she seemed to delight in telling us how she started scraps - to grow up. You're a grown woman for gods sake!! THIS MUST BE THE PLACE (TALKING HEADS) Another good band biog, though I'm not sure how impressed Chris Frantz will be at the authors endless intimation that Tina loved David. Does make TH footage seem more interesting now, watching her watch him while hubby pounds away. STUPID WHITE MEN - Michael Moore Another that started to get on my nerves, by the end no matter how good-intentioned. WHERE DID IT ALL GO RIGHT - Andrew Collins Nothing really happens, but it's a pleasant stroll through someones childhood. TIMEWASTER LETTERS Very silly. Misses the mark on loads of occasions, but there's a few LOL moments. Amazing how many people bothered to answer his ridiculous letters (example - "I've discovered a new colour - the colour greem"!!) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Jan 2005 12:11:05 -0800 (PST) From: Jan Noorda Subject: [idealcopy] HNY Wish you the best for coming year This from the www.scannerdot.com web-site Githead finally has it's very own website (www.githead.co.uk) You can read all about our antics, read the surreal lyrics and soon download some recordings exclusively available at this location.
