Apparently the compiling & remastering of the catalogue, combined with the cure's recent flurry of activity has put most of these re-issues back a good while. Rumour is that 17 Seconds will appear in easter & Faith later in the year (i'm secretly told that Faith will include the actual footage of the legendary Carnage Visors movie) But All Mine was never an actual track...just a live spontaneous thing, a variation on the 17 seconds track 'three'. (can't remember where i saw it now -- perhaps the cure news site -- but a few days ago i saw something implying that very thing.) not that it makes up for the omission, but without ransacking my various cure best-ofs i can only assume that the song at least remains easily available elsewhere. besides, if advisers to the old brain-dead drooler himself, ronald reagan, could seize on springsteen's innately anti-vietnam born in the usa as a campaign song back in '84, i can only imagine the army blasting killing an arab in its recruiting ads under the homicidal cocaine cowboy now in the white house. in addition, when i got home from work last night the postman had left the banshees box (along with kaito's you've seen us, you must have seen us, which had eluded my grasp for some time) at my door. haven't had a chance to do much besides open it up & look at the booklet, but at first blush i have to say it's a bit misleading to flog the release as a 4-disc set when disc #4 consists only of the thorn ep (judging from the track listings ... of course, for all i know it's stuffed with unlisted bonus tracks, videos, etc). i don't own said ep & am happy to have remedied that absence in my collection, but something tells me it doesn't constitute a full disc's worth of music. dan > good review of the cure cd in last weeks Observer. > > "marked a moment when 70's surburban punk turned into the dour pop of the > early 80's pop, and still sounds sharp today.... > Robert Smiths home wheezing home demo of 10.15 is particularly cute". > > > don't recall anyone mentioning that the long-awaited expanded 2cd of the > > cure's 3 imaginary boys (which i don't believe has ever been released as > even > > a single disc in the u.s., with the adulterated though excellent boys > don't > > cry filling the first-release slot over here) is finally out, along with > the > > even-more-long-awaited banshees b-sides comp ... 4 discs' worth, i > believe. > > the cure release is actually set for tuesday, though i think it's been out > for > > a week or 2 in the uk. the banshees box has apparently been out for a > couple > > of weeks as well -- i've seen no reference to its getting a u.s. release, > > though the import price of $65 or thereabouts isn't too odious, especially > > with the madness of king george II sending the now-unstable-as-he-is > dollar > > spiraling to new depthss with virtually every keystroke as i write this > ... > > > > anyone seen/heard either release? > > > > dan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Dec 2004 13:07:40 -0800 (PST) From: Ari Subject: [idealcopy] So Dan wrote......... >>as someone -- jason? -- noted, it's a bit unfortunate (not to mention historically incomplete) to omit killing an arab in any way, shape or form, but i suppose it *does* reflect political considerations.
