Of course the cynics would say that this was a bunch of journeyman musos reverting to type, and that the 'punk' period was the abberration, as they hitched their star to a passing bandwagon. Not me, though: I thought their early incarnation was great....... As for the list you include at the end, can I plead the case for PIL's 'Happy', which I thought was a pretty damn good effort. Seems the record-buying public didn't agree, though, as I don't recall the sales of it were up to much.......as for Souxsie/Creatures etc, I'm afraid if she were an animal that had gotten *that* lame, people would have been employing phrases like "It would be kinder to put it out of it's misery" long before they 'retired'. You could make a pretty fair argument that "a kiss in the dreamhouse" pretty much wrapped it up for her / them....... Meet the all-new My Yahoo! Isn't that the one with Fat Chance Hotel on? Not a great album, but that is a superb track. Not heard the last Creatures album, but it got really good reviews though it was Budgie who was getting the plaudits. > You could make a pretty fair argument that "a kiss in the dreamhouse" pretty much wrapped it up for her / them....... They released loads of decent singles after that - Cities In Dust is one of their best ever IMO, though it has a special meaning to me as I heard it for the first time on the radio as I was driving from hospital after my daughter had been born. It somehow reflected the sheer joyous feeling I was experiencing! I'm also rather partial to The Rapture myself (as is Mr Lynn IIRC) - I'm particularly fond of a track called Fall From Grace, whilst the title track has a nice epic feel to it.
