I was aware that Alex North had composed a score at Kubrick's request (because I have a copy on tape somewhere) which was then ditched in favour of the pre-composed works released with the film, but I didn't know that there was another (earlier?) option. Unsurprisingly, he tries to go by the name "Rafael", but that didn't really work during his time at Celtic. - - A - -- Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge http://www.esc.cam.ac.uk/ Programme Controller, CUR1350 http://www.cur1350.co.uk/ email: andrew@lexical.org.uk Random Walk ::: Wednesday, 10pm ::: cur1350.co.uk ::: is this music? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Aug 2004 03:15:02 EDT From: PaulRabjohn@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Re: idealcopy-digest V7 #231 In a message dated 09/08/2004 01:58:22 GMT Standard Time, andrew-wire@lexical.org.uk writes: > Unsurprisingly, he tries to go by the name "Rafael", but that didn't > really work during his time at Celtic. ///// i was similarly upset that kanu managed to "lose" the nwankwo part of his name when we signed him. did hope we could sign that german midfielder kuntz who would have teamed up well with our goalie of the time. p ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Aug 2004 09:21:09 +0200 From: Bart van Damme Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Pioneers in popular electronic music > Tell us more about this 2001 link, Bart. I'm not really sure what happened, but I suppose after Raaijmakers declined Kubrick must have asked Alex North who did indeed deliver a score. However by the time North had finished Kubrick had grown too attached to the provisionally used classical fragments. Hard to compete with the strength of Also sprach Zarathustra (Richard Strauss), Lux Aeterna & Atmosphhres (Gyvrgy Ligeti) anyway. > Another the Keith (still glowing from having set foot in the grounds of > Kubrick's house a few weeks ago) What's this then Keith, some postmortem stalking or has Kubrick's house turned into a museum? ;-) Bart ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Aug 2004 03:37:41 EDT From: CHRISWIRE@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Re: idealcopy-digest V7 #231 In a message dated 09/08/2004 08:18:09 GMT Daylight Time, PaulRabjohn@aol.com writes: ///// i was similarly upset that kanu managed to "lose" the nwankwo part of his name when we signed him. did hope we could sign that german midfielder kuntz who would have teamed up well with our goalie of the time. p We have dear Nwankwo now but I hardly think he is our panacea to keep us in the Premiership.
