Glad you like the title! It's probably preferable to 'Chair Covers' or 'Stars on 154'. I don't exactly have a masterplan - but with broadband & all that, it shouldn't be too difficult nowadays for any of us who are interested to pool whatever resources we might have (midi files of Wire songs, wav files of anyone who can play something playing chord sequences from Wire songs, etc) and then we can assemble the parts in whatever order seems best to us. Like all of you no doubt I've got a hundred sensible things I should be doing instead, so it could well take months before anything emerges. Having mentioned it, I quite like the idea of a Dome version of 'Blessed State', so will probably start chipping away at that. I've also got one other Wire-related project on the go, which is a remix of 'Germ Ship' - the main objective being to make it go on for 10 minutes or so. It's one of my favourite R&B tracks, and I think a long version could nudge into Neu territory. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: ; Sent: Tuesday, July 20, 2004 9:34 PM Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Cover Theirs? I like BS very well, but sometimes the drums seem a bit too perky. I can imagine it being taken in a much more Dome-like direction. Are there any musicians, neo-musicians or post-musicians on the list who might feel like creating midi or wav files to be used/cannibalised for such a project? >> i love this kind of thing! i don't remember exactly when (maybe 2 years ago) 4 of us did something along those lines. inspired by our mutual fondness for wire, we each recorded a piece 1 minute and 54 seconds long. i assembled the 4 tracks, one over the other, and made it the soundtrack to a quicktime movie made of randomly cut and pasted stock photo stills. we called it 1 2 I.O.U. if you want to check it out, it's here: http://www.geocities.com/eardrumbuz/12iou.html i'd love to do another online recording project. lemme know what you wanna do. - -paul c.d. p.s. It also featured the New York Dolls doing a fab version of Personality Crisis - much better than I expected. David Johannson was terrific!! It ended with Moz doing Irish Blood and Everyday is Like Sunday - he forgot the words and conducted the audience as they sang along (as he pulled faces and looked happy, it was not hardly typical Morrissey!!). Alain Whyte was missing once again, but both were very good versions, coming across on tv with much more ooomph than the Glastonbury one.
