Face-crushing guitars, head-pounding drums, bass so low it'll make you = vacate your bowels, and vocals so scorching, so extreme, they can't be = human. They're not. This death metal outfit with a parrot for a singer = takes your head off with two stabs to the throat. That's right, a parrot = for a singer, coming at you without mercy, Hatebeak pecks your eyes out = and assaults your ears in a flurry of pummeling riffs and grey feathers = that leaves you lying in a pool of blood begging for more. The first = metal band in history with an avian vocalist! http://www.reptilianrecords.com/reptilian/hatebeek.html [demime 0.97c-p1 removed an attachment of type application/octet-stream which had a name of Hatebeak and Longmont Potion Castle at REPTILIAN RECORDS.url] ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jul 2004 10:56:08 +0100 From: "Garry P" Subject: [idealcopy] Cover Theirs? Firstly thanks to all of you who listened to the track I mentioned a few posts back, the response was surprisingly positive. Mileta, I think your instincts are right, I do like Sylvian a lot - though I haven't heard his new suffering song. In fact this particular piece was one of my less Sylvian-like outings. There have been vague murmurings about putting together a cover of a Wire song before now. The first question is, which one? Seems to me there are some songs where the recorded version seems entirely definitive - Map Ref, say. With others, you'd like to have seen the song go down a different route. Those are the ones to think about covering. My first thoughts are 'It's a Boy' (in the Wire book Colin says something about intending this to be a gentler song, which I can imagine working); and 'Blessed State'. I like BS very well, but sometimes the drums seem a bit too perky. I can imagine it being taken in a much more Dome-like direction. Are there any musicians, neo-musicians or post-musicians on the list who might feel like creating midi or wav files to be used/cannibalised for such a project? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jul 2004 11:09:49 +0100 From: "Keith Astbury" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Low Heartbeat > Er.....I meant good value for 3 Cds and a DVD if you happen to be fan of > Low as well as Wire. I am. It sounds excellent value to me!! And thanks for the Manchester info, Tim. Keith np Lali Puna - faking the books (nice review on PJ's evilsponge website) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jul 2004 15:26:22 +0100 From: "Keith Astbury" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] TGDVD Recording Session Merchandise > np Liars - we fenced other gardens cd single (not heard the LP, but I > like this a lot!) > > I borrowed They Were Wrong So We Drowned from the library(! - there's > obviously someone with a semblance of musical taste there, although it's > not often followed through in the rest of the stuff they have) and I > have grown to like it a good deal. I read conflicting reviews on the latest album - and I wasn't sure about the witchcraft direction! - but I think I'll have to investigate further. Keith np Roger - this is the shit (available through Julian Cope's website, this may or may not feature the man himself. He says not, but I'm not convinced). ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jul 2004 16:34:42 EDT From: Eardrumbuz@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Cover Theirs?
