It was particularly poignant seeing him dragged away by two police officers when he tried to prevent the blokes from the Council removing his precious junk. He was particularly savvy in getting a builder to do essential repairs (to stop his place falling down) on the understanding that they could redevelop the whole house and sell part of it off while avoiding ever signing any documents to this effect. They were left to try to recover their costs from his estate. His response to being presented with the Council's legal papers, "stick it up your chuffer", was priceless. I haven't heard either of his records any opinions out there? cheers A ************************************************************************* The contents of the e-mail and any transmitted files are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. It was strangely moving and one felt on his side even if one wouldn t exactly have wanted him as a neighbour. ((( One of my favourite programmes of late. The extended coverage of the beleagured Mr.Trebus fascinating/heartbreaking stuff. Peel's voiceover is perfect for it, by turns avuncular and dispassionate. In Glasgow, I wanted to tell Peel how much I enjoyed it, but he fucked off early after someone had let him down on some arrangement. Apparently he doesn't take to kindly to those situations (well, most of us don't, do we, but Peel really got the hump). Didn't even stick around for Wire. The sort of music that used to lead the old NME/Sounds writers to talk in about "Shimmering shards of sepurchural majesty", "sonic cathedrals", "the sound of a million stars bursting open"...etc. etc. However, live its just a bloke behind a keyboard not doing anything in particular. The gig I saw was just a replay of the CD with the occasional bit of Delay added and almost put me off the records. My advice? Go and buy 'Far Away Trains Passing By' and 'A Strangely Isolated Place' CDs instead! Perhaps upstairs in the Garage with a throng of excited persons it might be more interesting, and who knows maybe Ulrich has polished his stage act since I saw him. Hey what the heck. Creating a health hazard and a haven for rats, roaches and god knows what, wasting public resources on having people cleaning up his filth. I work with Environmental Health Officers and Urban Hygiene Workers...these guys clean up the most incredibly fucked up stuff.... the sight/smell of which would scare the shit out of me, and most of you i should imagine. But they don't get the same Kudos as Nurses, Firefighters and Ambulance Drivers etc. Trebus was amusing, and clearly had problems but no more deserving of sympathy than the Friday night pissheads that beat A&E nurses up, and the scumbags that dial 999 so they can throw bricks at the Firefighters. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 May 2004 01:53:24 +0100 From: "Keith Astbury" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Dear Dan......... > After she passed, they went in the home and there > were only paths between the piles.
