I know on May 14 I'll be at Vera's where I saw them 2 times before. For what it's worth, the first concert ('95 or'96) I can honestly say it was the best bloody gig I've ever witnessed. [35 Br]. This after the music was withdrawn by Bruce about some 10 years ago. Probably things has changed. This is what the advertisement says (mentioned in the latest Wire) B.C.GILBERT ORDIER Though the era of punk was widely regarded as a time of extremes, legendary group Wire and guitarist BC Gilbert provided the most problematic, visionary and ironic response to the music scene of the mid Seventies. The angular minimalism of their sound, the abstract, deadpan lyrics and a penchant for confrontation betrayed the art school origins and made Wire an idiosyncratic triumph. With bravery, integrity, absolute courage and energy - and as many ideas and concepts as any musician of his era - Gilbert continues to forge aead. In his post-Wire work, he has utilized a variety of modernist tools and explored a vast range of experimental music, from white noise to ambient drones. ORDIER (recorded for Table of the Elements in 1996, but subsequently believed lost) is another combative classic, as Gilbert stirs up a wild swarm of electronics with his usual deft touch.. beautiful packaged in wooden case. np: nothing at all. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Apr 2004 06:16:21 -0700 (PDT) From: Fergus Kelly Subject: [idealcopy] Wash your brains, think again, double check. A few live gigs are coming together in May in Ireland and the UK as part of an ad-hoc traveling brainwashed road show. Sunday, May 2nd, at Lazybird in Dublin, Ireland, Aranos and Z'Ev will play ))) Z'EV !!! In Lazybird !!! (Where I played not so long ago, supporting UK bass player John Edwards) Fuckin' 'ell !! Best bit o' news in ages ! Nice one Rob ! I knew Aranos was playing, I've seen him a couple of times, but Z'ev... well he's hardly going to be flinging metals as you can't swing a cat in Lazybird ! I last saw Z'ev in Dublin as it happens, playing with the Bow Gamelan. They did a gig on a pontoon on the Liffey. The whole experience was severely compromised by the hugely irritating presence of a car alarm which rang out through the whole set... despite Z'ev and Paul Burwell's valiant attempts to stop it (hopping on the car, shoving it, shaking it etc.) It's a pity Volcano The Bear aren't playing Dublin. They played here a few years ago, and they were stunning. I strongly advise UK listers interested in this area to check 'em out. Fergus __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
