The compilation includes the first three albums, Waiting For A Miracle, Sleep No More, and Fiction, as well as a fourth disc of bonus tracks. It's History is a limited edition release, with my own copy being penned 1095 of 2000 copies. It's a big musical find for me, as I've been searching for Comsat Angels material since I bought the Rhino post-punk compilation, Left Of The Dial, with "Eye Of The Lens" years ago. The material on It's History sounds great and it should provide me with a good soundtrack to the upcoming summer. I wanted to give a heads-up about this release here, as I've heard Comsat Angels mentioned several times. I'm comfortable enough with my masculinity to say that I like the Comsat Angels song, "I'm Falling", from the movie soundtrack to Real Genius. I'll probably track down the album, Seven Day Weekend, soon for that one. I've always thought the Practice Makes Perfect & French Film Blurred diptych was Wire at its very best. Greatest opening of any album ever imo! To me CM's only weaker moment is Heartbeat - that one never has done much for me. ))) I like Heartbeat I must say. But the strongest tracks would definitely be Being Sucked In Again, quite literally a solid song, with riffs like breeze blocks, the towering Mercy, and the killer parting shot, Too Late. Just love those massive vapour trails of heaving harmonics after the final strum. On another note, anyone catch Einsturzende Nuebauten in London last Saturday ? I did notice that the 4 CD's are black discs...probably the black CD-R type of thing. Also, I looked on All Music Guide and it doesn't mention this Comsat Angels box set under the band's discography. The CD artwork looks well-done, though, and the package as a whole looks quite official. I went by another indie record store this morning (after I scored Pixies tickets, which will be acknowledged in another post) and noticed that they were selling the same Comsat Angels compilation (1135 of 2000 or something like that). The independent stores are apparently selling them quite well, as the one that I purchased it from yesterday told me that they had ordered more of them. It's all good, though. I paid $25 for the whole box set, so I at least didn't get robbed like the people buying the early Ebay purchases did. Thanks for the heads-up, though. The CD's do sound good enough for now when I listened to them last night, so the only thing hurt is my dignity and that is seldom fatal. The first show sold out in 8 minutes, but I was able to score tickets on the first section of the balcony for a friend and I. A second show was added, but also sold out shortly thereafter. I didn't realize that Pixies were so popular here, but, then again, this is the only southeastern U.S. location where they are playing at. I hope that the band stays together at least until after this October 14 show. Jason _________________________________________________________________ Persistent heartburn? I'd have loved to have done both gigs, but MoB were so good last time, and one suspects they'll not do this for ever, whereas Neubauten will be back soon, I guess... Happy with my choice - MoB did two sets, and were if anything better than they were in '02. Fair bit of new stuff too - they've done a new album which is out next month. I got tickets for the Oct. 14th show at 9 AM CDT on the dot, then went on about my day -- if I had known about the 10/15 show, I would have tried for tickets for it as well. As of this writing, there are but two shows, on 10/13 and 10/14, and I am going to but one, on 10/14. Chicago (a relatively cheap airfare for me, and a convenient Saturday show) goes on sale tomorrow at noon CDT. Well Phillip has been ripped off, or he is stupid enough to buy it, or both." I don't see it quite this way. As an avowed completist I want this material. As a matter of interest I think some of it is superior to say Turns and Strokes material. I am a collector of rare material for some other genres of music (for example Australian progressive rock, I would consider spending big dollars (say $200) for a rare item, so the money for this item is not really that large. As for being 'ripped off', as a person who doesn't even own a CD burner let alone engage in tape trading I have little alternative in the marketplace. The placement of a value (....ripped off, means Kevin assesses this material as having less value than me, which actaully I doubt) is an individual matter and one governed by supply and demand. As for being 'stupid' enough to buy it, well if being curious about unreleased material by my favourite band is stupid then I plead guilty! Having said all that I regret that Kevin has been put in a bad position over this. Phillip from Australia - --------------------------------- Find local movie times and trailers on Yahoo!
