(outtake from Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me) - - "Spilt Milk", "You're So Happy", "Heavy World", original version of "Just Say Yes" (outtakes from Bloodflowers) - - "Carnage Visors" (1981 film soundtrack used on tour) - - "I Dig You" and "Cult Hero" (from The Cure's Cult Hero "side project") - - "I Want To Be Old", "Listen", "Heroin Face", "I Just Need Myself", "See The Children" (Easy Cure demos, 1978, before Easy Cure changed their name to simply The Cure) - - "Into The Trees" (early version of "A Forest") - - "Cold Colours" (early version of "Primary") - - "Heart Attack", "Slurvy", "Old England" (demos from the Wish Sessions) - - "Faded Smiles" (demo recorded during Seventeen Seconds sessions) - - "Desperate Journalist" (alternate version of "Grinding Halt" from the Three Imaginary Boys sessions) - - "Ariel" (1982 radio show recording from Robert Smith) - - "Forever" (awesome 1981 Peel Session track recorded sometime after the Faith era that The Cure played at shows from that time period) - - "Away" (early version of "Cut" from the Wish album) - - The five live Wild Mood Swings songs from the limited edition Five Swing Live CD. - - "All I Have To Do Is Kill Her" (1984 concert track, early demo, alternate "Forever") Also, a multitude of John Peel Sessions tracks, acoustic song versions, etc. There are more rarities out there that some better Cure fans than myself here may be able to remember. At any rate, it'll be nice to see these and others on the bonus discs. There's a commonly available download version of A Forest which someone has called "Into the trees". This is from a BBC session (not Peel) and is played by the 3-piece Cure line-up circa Faith - it's in fact a later version of A Forest. > >>- "Cold Colours" (early version of "Primary")<< Quite when this track became known as "Cold Colours" is unknown - it's probably a retitle from a foreign bootleg. AFAIK it's never officially been called this - at the time it was called Primary, even though it is a completely different song from the Single/Faith track. It was played live on the Cure's 11/80 tour (which was actually called "The Primary Tour") and clearly was intended as the next single. Live it was played with both Robert & SImon playing standard black 4-string Fender basses - no guitar. The studio version that is found on Kazaa etc is from the early '81 Peel session. The later single version's lyrics refer to the song's own construction ("I thought of a sing and quickly changed the tune"). > - "Faded Smiles" (demo recorded during Seventeen Seconds sessions)<< Is this the unfinished track with "phonetic vocals"? If so, it'll be on the 17Sec reissue, so I'm led to believe. > >>- "Forever" (awesome 1981 Peel Session track recorded sometime after the > Faith era that The Cure played at shows from that time period)<< Recorded some time before Faith in fact. Forever was in the set from 1980 and was still there some years later, but never made it on to a release. It's on the same Peel session as the different Primary, which also includes early versions of Holy Hour & All Cats are Grey. I was probably in the process of making my first ever music purchase in 1981...Daryl Hall & John Oates - Private Eyes. I didn't get into The Cure until I heard "Let's Go To Bed" on a college radio station in 1985 or 1986. Still, never too late to get into good music. The bootlegs that I've heard from the early '80's Cure shows, though, are impressive.
