As you maybe know the first release was the Gilbert/Hampson/Kendall's Orr ceedee. And with the other three releases the label suddenly stopped about 10 years ago. Now it looks Paul is starting again with a new release by the Digital Intervention called Capture. This time not released by Mute records, but with French help this time 0101-music. Mixing-It info The Digital Intervention: The Last Writes The Digital Intervention is a collaboration between the British electro-acoustic composer and sound engineer Paul Kendall and the classically trained French singer Olivia Louvel. Paul Kendall was responsible for Mute Records' Parallel Series in the 1990s, which aimed to bridge the gap between classical electronic music and rock electronic music. This series has now moved to the French Ici d'Ailleurs company. album: Capture 0101 Music 0101.PS1 0101 c/o Ici d'Ailleurs, 32bis rue Raymond Poincari, 54000 Nancy, France, visit http://www.0101-music.com/theparallelseries.htm ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Oct 2003 23:31:06 +0000 From: "Jason Rogers" Subject: [idealcopy] Interpol in Atlanta For those still interested, I have to say that last night's Interpol concert here in Atlanta was damn amazing. I was impressed when I saw them last December, of course, but the band has been touring constantly since then and their growth as a live band was apparent. The stage presence is very much improved and the intensity of all tracks played was turned up several notches. Of course, the December show was at Cotton Club (250 - 300 capacity venue?) and only two-thirds full, whereas last night's show was at The Roxy (1,000+ capacity venue) and completely sold out; the light show is bigger to fit. Interpol played two new songs that impressed me a good deal. I'm looking forward to hearing the band's sophomore effort, whenever it is recorded and released. The opening bands, Elefant and The Occasion, were both quite good. Elefant's set was good enough for me to spend a few bucks on the band's CD. Interesting that the 50's movie discussion is still in effect here. Speaking of old films, I bought The Adventures Of Robin Hood (1938 film with Errol Flynn) on DVD earlier today. I fondly remember watching this one with my brother when we were younger...plus I've heard that the Technicolor assets of this film are even more striking on this DVD. Anyone considering a career in the music business check this out. You see, your band might do a few gigs, cut a demo but eventually fizzle out and go nowhere. On the other hand, your band might sell millions of records and be lauded as one of the most iconic and influential in history. You may only be the bass player and somewhat overshadowed by your lead singer who becomes an Icon of the 80s. However your bass lines are really distinctive, like great lead guitar parts and add so much to the songs you really deserve a huge credit for the songs your band recorded. 20 years later, ....... you have to sell your Bass on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3352946350&category=29937 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Oct 2003 03:11:51 +0100 From: "Tim" Subject: [idealcopy] Tears for Fairlights (Was don't worry bout the government) > * all is right in the world.* > * tears for fears have reformed.* > > TFF.. Great band though, they had that overproduced, synth/Fairlight driven 80s sound which I have a weird sort of affection for now....its due for a comeback I reckon (the signs are all there....Strokes do a 'Tron' style vid, Belle & Sebastian get Trevor Horn to produce heir new LP) Here are some examples of the genre (anyone care to think of a snappy name for it befoe NME does?) Prefab Sprout (and by association Thomas 'Patrick Moore was in the video for She Blinded Me With Science' Dolby) Scritti Polliti Duran Duran circa 7 and the Ragged Tiger 'Tin Drum' era Japan Frankie Goes to Hollywood Wang Chung XTC (mid-late 80s stuff esp The Big Express and Oranage and Lemons) Bowie circa Lets Dance 'Safety Dance' by Men Without Hats and of course Kidney Bingoes era Wire. And many many more.
