Where will it end? PANDEMONIUM! Leeds October 5th The Elves of Yorkshire know that Leeds is Goth central, so of course the Jokers were blacker on the 5th. Liverpool had been about half full, Leeds was rammed. The support were dull to very weak, and earned some EXIT! heckles from impatient Jokers. The drummer from Giga0, who I'd met on the chaos train back from Liverpool, sold me a copy of his band's EP. Later I realised that I'd seen them play at the Voodoo Lounge at Manchester Retrobar. The Joke sounded sharper and even more fired up than in Liverpool and Jaz especially seemed to feed off the wired energy of the crowd. WARDANCE was dedicated to the power-sake lap poodle Tory Bliar, and cop sirens wailed for CHANGE! "Everywhere's changing into fucking America!" lamented Jaz, looking for a way out. Look at the faces. FRENZY and PSSYCHE brought out the animal side. EMPIRE SONG and ASTEROID! boosted the set to more massive proportions than Liverpool. The penultimate onslaught was a big surprise. Jaz said it might be a bit ropey because they hadn't played it for so long, but FOLLOW THE LEADERS was perfect. Part of the process - same old story? THE FALL OF BECAUSE!
