It looks like a "Back To Mine" type of deal where Ladytron has simply compiled a mix of songs by their favorite artists. It would be cool to hear Ladytron actually cover the song, though. Even cooler if they made a video to it, because the two girls in Ladytron are both cute. Hi everyone, Sorry - I was going to refrain from further postings on this topic, but I think there's a couple of issues in Ari's post that warrant further discussion. (^_^) > although I 'get' where you're coming from, surely with such a diverse group > of adults like there are on this list, and the diverse cultural differences, the > useage of 'swear' words is not only to be expected but is a given? Hmmm - I don't think so. In fact, I would think that due to the diverse cultural differences, one would be *less* apt to swear, due to the possibilities of being misconstrued. > although I personally do not swear unless I am trying to drive home a point,if > the BBC can air words like fuck in a play,or even a song without (like over here > in America) 'bleeping' it,why can't we? Let me try explaining it a different way. This e-mail list has a large audience, most of whom are pretty quiet. The posts on IdealCopy are generally like hearing a conversation between a small group of friends in a room full of strangers. If a list member feels comfortable yelling profanities to a room full of strangers, that's fine - I'm certainly not in favor of censorship. But I am in favor of having a modicum of respect for your fellow listmembers. Some people find certain obscenities highly objectionable. I would think that in order to establish meaningful conversations between the listmembers, it would be best to avoid derogatory words, or place them firmly in humorous contexts where they can't be perceived as being derogatory. Like I said - I'm probably just being a fuddy duddy. (^_^) > the section 3 you talk of would,I would think, only apply if,for example, > I told you or someone on this list to F off,as in a personal attack > ,not in the general run of conversation. That brings up an interesting question, Ari. What if you're not attacking somebody on the list, but someone else? Then, does that rule apply? I've always sort of assumed it does, but maybe it doesn't... it's a very good question. For example, say I'm really anti-Britney Spears - do I have a right to call her some sort of really foul name on this list, describing her with a word that is very offensive to some people, or should I simply suggest that "she sucks", and leave it at that? Arrgh - I think I've ground this topic down into the ground. Please return to your regularly scheduled IdealCopy list discussions - I'm going to fire up the PlayStation 2, and play some Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Chaos Rules. (^_^) Cheers, Paul N.P.
