Like an animated comic...each story has a different artist...the humour is sharp & very very dark Don't know how many programmes I've missed but it's a must watch from now on for me goes out on BBC 2 Thursdays @ 23.20 BST I know there are many on this list who would love it Below is quoted the BBC blurb... (incl. grocer's apostrophe) "Monkey Dust is a cutting-edge comedy animation created by an award-winning team of writers and visualised by some of London's finest young animators. Set in a permanent urban nightmare, Monkey Dust is a nocturnal world and it's satirical targets range across the whole spectrum of British society Monkey Dust also features occasional celebrity appearances from the likes of Robbie Williams, Eminem and Sven-Goran Eriksson, as well as a brief cameo from DJ Neil Fox, who dies a hideous death" http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/tv/monkeydust.shtml http://www.monkey-dust.co.uk later A ************************************************************************* The contents of the e-mail and any transmitted files are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. A few observations... Fergus on the step arobics... >This was mildly amusing for a few minutes, but as a concept, it was a thin joke that wore thinner and thinner as the set >progressed. To this extent, when Wire played the C21 Pink Flag at the end of the set, the impact of the live pink-clad >dancers (calling to mind the Document and Eyewitness cover), and flashing halogens that accompanied the song, though >enjoyable, was considerably lessened, as we were so sick of watching aerobics videos. I dunno about that, Fergus. I thought it came as welcome relief. If I could put it another way, it was almost like a pretty good punchline to a rather bad joke. And yes, PF On Ice would have been better! >This meant that Wire were pushed right to the back of the stage for the entire set to allow space for the dancers. Do you know, I hadn't really thought of it like (DUH!). But you're right, the band being closer to the front of the stage could have helped them 'connect'. The review of Send half brought back to mind the interval chat we had with Fergus. As we knew Fergus knew what the set of pt2 looked like there was a temptation to tape him down a la Billy Whitelaw, and try to extract some vital information, but not wanting the surprise spoilt I went easy on him ; ) (Aside...are you sure it's 50 yrs since the invention of DNA? I thought it was discovered in the early to mid 90's at Leicester Uni. I recall reading a very interesting Readers Digest article in the dentists waiting room one time!) >Whilst Robert's nose sniffed us out, Colin's mouth demanded our attention, as he sung in sync to a prerecorded video. Well, >mostly in sync. It only slipped significantly out of register a couple of times, which was a shame, as the effect was powerful. That was perhaps the least satisfying part of the show for me. Maybe it's a fault on my behalf, but I found the whole out-of-sync bit really distracting. Someone here once suggested they should have used a live webcam for it, but even a still of Colin's mouth would have been altogether better IMO. >The set (not strictly a complete Send set, owing to issues of time and practicality) ended with I Don't Understand, then Wire >de-velcroed and disembarked. The ECGs read zero. The lights came up. This sudden departure seemed a bit anticlimactic, >and caused a bit of uncertainty in the crowd, who, naturally bayed for more, but it wasn't that kind of show. Yeah, not sure how they could avoided that, but it did seem anti-climactic. Maybe a happy-clappy acapella version of Feed Me at the front of the stage would have done the trick ; ) Enjoyable article about an interesting, if flawed, night. If you haven't read it, it's well worth a look. I'll leave the final word to Fergus... >What was interesting was that they could celebrate their history without the rank odour of nostalgia. It was discovered (not "invented" :) ) about a hundred yards from where I'm sitting, by Crick and Watson (building on the results of Rosemary Franklin who has been consistently cheated out of the credit she deserved for the discovery).
