This is really an eye opener! We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before. WATER 1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world population.) 2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. 3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%. 4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study. 5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. 6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. 7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. 8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day? COKE 1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. 2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days. 3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china. 4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola. 5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. 6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes. 7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy. 8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield. FOR YOUR INFORMATION: 1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis. 2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials. 3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years! Now the question is, would YOU like a glass of water or coke ? SBC Yahoo! I get more and more dumbfounded by Radiohead's appeal with every veiwing, Manics were going through the motions, as were their countrymen Feeder. I admire the way they've bounced back from the loss of drummer and friend, but that don't mean I want to watch them.... REM seemed mediocre, and apparently even their fans were not overly impressed. Moloko? I thought they'd split up. Possibly better if they had. He was pretty hysterical, it has to be said. Keith Astbury claimed he looked like a simpleton wearing in his new shoes. I thought his gait about the stage owed quite a lot to the Oliver Reed school of idiot dancing, as UK(& NL?) listers may remember being demonstrated on some chat show in the early 90's when he appeared absolutely pissed, a tie round his head, performing Iggy's 'Real wild child'.....once seen, never forgotten. :-> Dave Gahan has clearly seen the video of this, I would say........ dw _________________________________________________________________ Stay in touch with absent friends - get MSN Messenger http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 17:12:02 +0100 From: "Keith Astbury" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] glastonbore > I thought his gait about the > stage owed quite a lot to the Oliver Reed school of idiot dancing, as UK(& > NL?) listers may remember being demonstrated on some chat show in the early > 90's when he appeared absolutely pissed, a tie round his head, performing > Iggy's 'Real wild child'.....once seen, never forgotten. :-> Dave Gahan > has clearly seen the video of this, I would say........ > > dw On the button!! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 17:47:05 +0100 From: "Keith Astbury" Subject: [idealcopy] "And I hate modern music" UK listee's may be interested in the MVC sale. This is a genuine sale rather than the same old stuff being dragged out yet again in, say, HMV. So in the Chester branch you got 50% off the likes of Sulk and Low's Trust. Bought quite a bit of stuff - Dreadzone, McLusky, "The Unutterabe", Lupine Howl, etc and a couple of old faves that I have on vinyl... DAMNED DAMNED DAMNED This still sounds like a classic rush of punkoid energy as they might have said way back when. "Come 1984 this might sound rather silly" said Giovanni Dadomo when reviewing it in Sounds. BOLLOCKS! Come the 21st century it sounds great. Neat Neat Neat is still (and always will be!) one of my fave singles, and there's that great throwaway track So Messed Up that reminds me of The Sweet! In fact, I reckon the Sweet should have covered it - there's even a bit where Steve Priest could have camped it up ("Well did you know!") - rather than trying to make more sophisticated pop and comparing love with...erm...oxygen! And in I Feel Alright we get one of the GREAT cover versions..... ANOTHER MUSIC IN A DIFFERENT KITCHEN Another punkoid thrill that I hadn't heard in a while - too many great tracks to mention but it was great to hear this one again. Even what I think of as the lesser tracks (I Need, for example) do it for me.And the "I hate modern music..." bit is one of the GREAT endings of all time!
