In the end I'd probably go for PF, for It's elegant economy. It's certainly a memorable image, & perhaps the band agrees, having chose it to name their label? Least impressive is probably between Manscape or IBTABA. The former in particular had a sort of cheesy, cheap & cheerful look to it. _________________________________________________________________ Tired of 56k? Just the image, with a full bleed. Preferably gloss lamination too. Or spot varnish on the flag and the vase. EMI didn't have had the bottle to do that - despite significant precedent (Pink Floyd). When they eventually did (with 154) it had a big sticker on the shrinkwrap saying it was 154 by Wire. A-Z and Not To are lovely sleeves too, as are the first 3 Domes. More recently, the He Said Omala sleeves are very nice too. R&B01 is let down by the colour, which doesn't print up well. R&B02 looks much better. Should have used a more direct colour on 01 - or just a white background. Send is excellent. The disk will probably still be there to be got next week, next month maybe even next year. The gig, however is gone, gone, gone. Allow me to state the obvious, therefore. If you regret whichever choice you make, you can always do something about getting hold of a CD: however, unless you've cracked time travel and are keeping it quiet, there's no coming back from a missed gig.......... And what if due to unforseen circumstances, the band *don't* tour again? That'll just compound your feeling of "Crap! I missed it". Its Beautiful, pure and ambiguous. Is it a new flag? is it a warning? Which image is supposed to be on the front and does it matter? I think i've spent more time looking at this one than actually playing the thing. I'm not thrilled with the Send artwork. I like the fact that its black, but I think the image is too bloody obvious and the typography is a bit wishy washy. Looks too much like an obscure german electronica CD. Something with a run of 1,000 copies, not a mass produced item. It doesn't look and feel like a new LP from one of the most important British bands of the last 30 years. Fortunately it does sound like one. I love the typeface they were using for IC and IBTABA...really thick, blunt and just screaming THIS IS WIRE at you! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jun 2003 19:51:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Santa Cruzer Subject: [idealcopy] June 23, SF Hey all- I just got my scanner up and running again after a painful upgrade from Win98 to Win2K. That said, here is a link to Wire's setlist last night from the Great American Music Hall show. http://3rproductions.com/images/0623setlist.jpg The addition to the set were the encore songs, which were (I recall...) Strange 106 Beats That Surgeon's Girl Pink Flag Great stuff! Wire was really incendiary and the energy level of the band and crowd were awesome! A couple cool things happened last night that were exceptionally great! The first was meeting Copyists Rick, Gareth and Paul, who drove all the way from Salt Lake City (a 13 hour drive!) to see the show! The other was a chance encounter with a certain Mr Lewis, who I offhandedly mentioned "break a leg" to and was rewarded with a 10+ minute conversation with one of the coolest, nicest people I've ever met! Thank you! If you get a chance, DO NOT MISS THEM! And here's looking forward to R&B3! :) ===== Rick Hindman, 3R Productions PO Box 7770 Santa Cruz, CA 95062 t: (831) 425-7335 f: (831) 425-7356 http://www.3rproductions.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
