One is The > Unperverted Pantomime, which for most part is a remaster of what was > originally a live bootleg, plus (i think) a single and a radio session > added to it. /////from the tracklist posted previously , its a partial combination of 2 olde bootlegs dating from the original split from youth , the "unperverted pantomime" tape and the "bums rush" lp. seems like they've missed off the peel tracks , guess the licensing fees might reduce profitability? (heh heh) i recall in the early days of strange fruit records , the boss saying that the only 2 bands who loathed each other sufficiently to make a release impossible were KJ and the sisters of mercy........looks like time must've cooled things a little. i really loved youth-era KJ but i think they lost what made them special after he left. in comparison i thought the raven-era stuff was compromised , like they wanted to be a commercial rock act. couldn't be bothered with the later reformation , but i saw some footage from some festival , cranking out wardance and psyche for the millionth time , and their hearts didn't seem to be in it at all. much like the GO4 (and so unlike wire) , i just can't see them coming up with much more than retreads of stuff they did so much better in the 80's. hope i'm proved wrong , but suspect i'm not. p ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jun 2003 22:59:49 +0200 (CEST) From: Bo Krogsgaard Subject: Re: [idealcopy] GO4/Killing Joke On Sat, 21 Jun 2003 PaulRabjohn@aol.com wrote: > /////from the tracklist posted previously , its a partial combination of 2 > olde bootlegs dating from the original split from youth , the "unperverted > pantomime" tape and the "bums rush" lp. seems like they've missed off the peel > tracks , guess the licensing fees might reduce profitability? (heh heh) I seem to recall something about a damaged tape, but it might have been something else. Regardless, it would make more sense to gather all the sessions on one release (there are five, i believe, and they would fit a CD perfectly). > but i saw some footage from some festival , cranking out wardance > and psyche for the millionth time , and their hearts didn't seem to be in it > at all. much like the GO4 (and so unlike wire) , i just can't see them coming > up with much more than retreads of stuff they did so much better in the 80's. > hope i'm proved wrong , but suspect i'm not. I saw a list of songs they would definitely not play live, so there is a pretty good chance that with the small quantity of live dates and a new playlist, the shows could really blow a few minds. I hope they will prove you wrong, but i too have my doubts. I will give the benefit of doubt to the band though, for now at least. b ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jun 2003 18:14:47 EDT From: PaulRabjohn@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] GO4/Killing Joke In a message dated 6/21/03 10:00:31 PM GMT Daylight Time, t23@mother.brap.dk writes: > I seem to recall something about a damaged tape, but it might have been > something else. IIRC, Unperverted Pantomime was put together by a guy from Alchemy with Mike Coles from Malicious Damage, and was finished at first, THEN they asked the band for permission to release it. It is not a release put together by the band or their current label, Zuma. > maybe the old drummer is > blocking it in a fit of pique at being replaced by davey-poos? From all i know, he just wants Jaz to leave him alone. I don't see him blocking anything. There is another Alchemy release up when the fuzz has calmed over the new "real" album, from what i heard. b ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jun 2003 18:40:12 EDT From: Eardrumbuz@aol.com Subject: [idealcopy] burn, please read hi all, i'm sure several of you will be glad to assist me in my dilemma ;o) since my mind usually goes blank upon entering the record store (i get a bit overwhelmed sometimes), i would greatly appreciate suggestions for my next purchase. i've got $25 burning a hole in my pocket, and i'll probably get out to the stores in the next few days. - -paul (you pick my next) c.d. p.s. i run a bit behind on many things, so suggestions could be 2002 or 2003 releases, or older if you feel like it. www.mp3.com/winteracademy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jun 2003 00:01:22 +0100 From: "Keith Astbury" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] burn, please read > i would greatly appreciate suggestions for my next > purchase. i've got $25 burning a hole in my pocket, and i'll probably get out to > the stores in the next few days. > > -paul (you pick my next) c.d. Best cd I've bought in recent months is undoubtedly Neon Golden by the Notwist (2002). Great songs that sound unremarkable at first but really creep up on ya. Probably my fave LP since The For Carnation and Tarwaters AA&S in 2000... Keith NP Nuggets 2 ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V6 #182 *******************************
