I can only think of two occasions when I've wanted to kick the telly in*. One was Leeds being cheated out of the European cup in 1975 and the other was a year or so later when Borg beat the an out of sorts maestro that was Nastase in the Wimbledon mens final. But as for Bowie's praying, well it quite tickled me! > that mercury thing must > have been the last one of those dadrock day outs so maybe it was sufficiently bad > to kill off the concept. here's hoping. p It did, however, feature great versions of All The Young Dudes and Heroes, with IIRC - Ronno joining dame DB on-stage. Admittedly part of the pleasure would have come from hearing a couple of songs that actually weren't written by dead Fred and his mates. And let's not forget the earlier Lennon tribute where Lou Reed basically talked his way through Jealous Guy and Mother as Lou is want to do. Great stuff! I'm all for these day long tributes myself ; ) Keith * I did, however, go through a spell of wanting to smash a radio whenever I heard Nick Campbell on it. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Jun 2003 13:34:17 +0100 From: "ian s jackson" Subject: [idealcopy] OT - British Sea Power >Another the Keith > >NP: The Decline of British Sea Power - British Sea Power if Keith or anyone else who's heard this one would like to give a quick appraisal on the list, i'd be most grateful...heard nothing by them as yet, i'm thinking about just going out and getting it... cheers, ian.s.j. _________________________________________________________________ Find a cheaper internet access deal - choose one to suit you. http://www.msn.co.uk/internetaccess ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Jun 2003 12:43:13 GMT From: P J Kane Subject: Re: [idealcopy] how many dead or alive in 1985? << i would have imagined that The Cocteau Twins had an LP out that year, but having checked, it seems that 'Treasure' was 1984 and 'The Moon and the Melodies' was 1986...hhhmmmm... >> during that year the Cocteau's released _The Pink Opaque_, which was their first release in America. not an album proper, but it was still earth-shattering for us Yanks. they also released 3 EPs: Aikea-Guinea (the first CT i actually bought), Echoes In A Shallow Bay, and Tiny Dynamine. I don't play the full album much--more likely to listen to the r'b eps to hear the other tracks. Yes, the selection/order works well, but I think the recent Wire would sound great in any order, so that's not surprising. Metro cd: This may be my favorite of the series. I was at this performance, but I must say I wouldn't know that by listening--Agfers for example sounds different than I remember (coming out of the PA). Vinyl: Mine is not warped. The sticker sucks. The sound is incredible. Basically, this material fits the live and vinyl formats particularly well--buzzing guitars and loud drums. MZUI cd: Not surprisingly, lost in the shuffle here.
