Yesterday I was cleaning up bounced e-mails from the weekend, and John's had ended up in the bounce pile due to a certain taboo header that Hotmail was inserting through no fault of John's. Hotmail got lots of complaints, I gather, and as of Monday that header is no longer present in mail originating from Hotmail. Anyway, without reading ahead on the mail that did go through, I approved and resubmitted all John's posts to make sure that they got to the list. Apologies for any duplicates produced by that method. Fun reading the entire hypothesis, though! later, listowner Miles ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 May 2003 21:32:28 +0100 From: "John Goddard" Subject: [idealcopy] MARQUEE MOON - ----- Original Message ----- From: "P J Kane" To: Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 7:49 PM Subject: .CD's vs. the sie 1/side 2 dyn amic however, on the other hand i have only ever heard "Marquee Moon" on CD, so if i heard the "original vinyl" version, i most likely would get that same feeling.... The self-titled Psychedelic Furs debut differs in arrangement from the old U.S. release CD that I had, but I read that the order on the reissue is actually identical to the original U.K. vinyl release of the same album. I'm not sure if this is the case for Talk Talk Talk and Forever Now, though. The reissue of Talk Talk Talk begins with "Dumb Waiters"; this put me in a tailspin initially because I am so accustomed to hearing the album begin with "Pretty In Pink". No worries for me in the end, though....I think that the remastered tracks sound incredible. I saw The Psychedelic Furs a year and half ago when they co-headlined with Echo And The Bunnymen here in Atlanta. They're getting on a bit, but the show was still impressive. I've only recently heard the version of Robert Wyatt's 'I'm A Believer' on his 'Five ep's' release and there's another minute or so tagged on at the end - more Wyatt piano and Fred Frith guitar basically. To me it was like coming across a treasure trove and it's now the definitive version as far as I'm concerned.
