Of course, that was because they refused the BBC's demand that they change the lyrics for At Home He's A Tourist from "... and the rubbers you hide, in your top left pocket..." to " and the rubbish you hide..." I'm sure they DID appear on TOTP. I remember them on TV singing something else (maybe it wasn't TOTP, but some other programme) ...and the packet you hide, in your top left pocket... ??? - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail, together with any files transmitted with it, is confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual to whom it is addressed. I'm going to assume Bruce's material will lean towards the _In Esse_ sound ;) Creaig ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Apr 2003 22:35:41 +0100 From: "Bill Hick" Subject: [idealcopy] Bruce Gilbert's Scala remix (who let the dogs out?) Bolin & Cruce will be talking of Flag Burning & Send on Radio 3 Mixing It April 20 Someone was asking about a post-Soon continuum I believe this became known as 'post rock'? have a listen to Fennesz, Scala, Matmos, Main, Bowery Electric, Labradford, Calla, Tortoise, Bardo Pond, Tarwater, Low, Magnog, Flying Saucer Attack, etc, etc, the list is endless. Avoid any other band who got tagged as shoegazers, tedious plagiarists who watered it down to fairyland. Bruce Gilbert's remix of Slide by Scala (some of who are former members of Seefeel) makes the drastically over-rated Soon (the one track on Loveless that has really dated badly) and everything by Seefeel seem lesser... It's a shame Bruce doesn't remix more bands in a similar vein. Broadcast and Lightning Bolt are two bands who should ask him to do some remixes soon. Also hear Kevin Shield's Mogwai remix which is as good as anything by MBV. I'd rather listen to just about any free jazz than anything by beefcake Brian Eno, so your mileage may differ.
