Just been reading the March edition of Mojo (and yes I am wearing my slippers) - - it has (yet another) Top 50 Punk albums. Top five is Bollocks, Clash, Damned Damned Damned, Ramones & Cut, but there at no. 24 (btwn Discharge and Blank Generation) is Pink Flag. "Punk theory dictated short, sharp shocks. Wire took it to the heart with 21 songs in 39 minutes. Their debut sounded like nothing before - sparse, nervy, emotionally repressed, full of memorable hooks. Influenced numerous later bands, notably Blur. Post-punk started here." Loses points however for including a Sham 69 LP (one place above Marquee Moon for god's sake!) There's also a free cd with some old classics (1977, One Chord Wonders, Ambition, NNN, Action Time Vision, Another Girl, and a Devoto sung Orgasm Addict) mixed in with some newer stuff - the YYY's, Part Chimp and Hot Hot Heat who should be of interest to anyone who likes The Cure. And there's an interview with old rock dinosaur Roger Waters which features the following... "I'm making a rock'n'roll album. It's about conversation in an New York bar, and one of the characters is a taxi driver from the Balkans, and his marriage is falling apart..." Phew! Rock'n'roll eh!!!
