He wants another opportunity Here's the Mute info in full... BLIXA BARGELD ANNOUNCES HIS DEPARTURE FROM THE BAD SEEDS Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds' guitarist Blixa Bargeld is to leave the band. As a member of the very first line up of The Bad Seeds, Bargeld has played alongside and recorded with Cave for almost 20 years. Bargeld says, "This has been a very difficult decision for me and I have spent a great deal of time thinking about it. My leaving has nothing to do with artistic or personal differences with the band, I just feel it is time to concentrate on other creative areas in my life". Bargeld's departure will enable him to devote more time to his varied and expanding list of projects and interests outside of The Bad Seeds including fronting Einst|rzende Neubauten and his work in film and theatre. Nick Cave says, "We have parted as friends and we will miss him dearly". Mick Harvey, also a founding member of the band, adds "Blixa is irreplaceable, sadly we'll have to learn to get along without him". The Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds shows currently scheduled for early summer will proceed as planned, but without Bargeld. Warp are doing markdowns on several recent releases and if you buy from their website you get a free sampler 'Advanced Listening Opportunity' which is well worth having. Tantalisingly short track from Colin Newmans pals LFO (and no mention of new LP), promising stuff from Plaid, Chris Clark & the genius Prefuse 73 and best of all a new track from Autechre which finds them back on suprisingly funky form, deconstructing Hip Hop like only they can. So time to buy the last BOC CD, or Autechre's awkwardly wonderful 'Confield'...but If you've already got all the CDs in the markdown range, you have to send a photo of yourself with your collection of CDs and they'll send you a free copy of the sampler. Awww! www.warprecords.com Forthcoming also is '26 Mixes for Cash', a compo of Aphex Twin remixes from the sublime (Seefeel) to the ridiculous (Jesus Jones!). Alas it doesn't include his Lemonheads remix which apparently was just an actual Afx demo that Richard grabbed at random from his shelf and gave a Motorbike courier from the record company who had come round to collect the 'remix'. Can I also recommend Jan Jelinek's new LP 'La Novelle Pauvrete' on Scape records. He is the king of skewed, fractured electronica, and fans of Immersion's mesmirising soundscapes will find much here to delight them. He sings a bit as well, and when he does he reminds me of Mr Lewis in his Hox-Omala moments. ________________________________ www.kidsindestructible.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2003 21:45:18 EST From: RLynn9@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] OT:Warped Lemonheaded Rejiggly In a message dated 3/4/03 8:09:00 PM Central Standard Time, tim@kidsindestructible.com writes: > Its all gone a bit quiet so I'm going to plug stuff. > > Warp are doing markdowns on several recent releases and if you buy from > their website you get a free sampler 'Advanced Listening Opportunity' which > is well worth having.>>>> are any of the tracks exclusive? Yup - they've actually released a new one. According to the liner notes, it was completed in 3 weekends in Nov. 2001. And it just came out today in the U.S. (March 17th for the rest of the world.) Very immediate recording. Dense wall of sound this time - not elaborately produced. It sounds like the band playing live with a lot of distortion on Kristin's guitar. Same trio line-up as the final Throwing Muses. However, Tanya Donnelly is on it too - though she's just doing back-up vocals. Still - it proves how integral she was to their sound. It's gonna take a couple of plays to get my head around this one. Oh yeah - there's a new Kristin Hersh solo CD out too. Someday, I might actually get around to listening to that too.
