Heros Severum and Marytr & Pistol are both opening for Mission Of Burma tomorrow night at Echo Lounge. Gates open at 8:00 PM I've heard several Heros Severum songs on the Georgia State University radio station (88.5 WRAS) up here; they are a pretty decent Athens, GA band with a Pavement-like sound. It'll be interesting to see their show. http://www.heroesseverum.com I haven't yet heard Martyr & Pistol, but I think that they are another Athens, GA band. I'm going to be attending the show if any of you want to meet beforehand somewhere or at Echo Lounge. I can't wait to see Mission Of Burma. Back in September, when Wire and The Chameleons both played at Echo Lounge, I remember thinking, "If only Mission Of Burma would play this month and make it complete..."...lol. A girl up in Rhode Island that I'm friends with is a huge Mission Of Burma fan and interviewed Roger Miller for an R.E.M. site this past year (www.murmurs.com); she has seen all of the MOB reunion shows up north and highly recommends bringing earplugs to the show. From what I've seen of the setlists, Mission Of Burma plays most of the songs from Signals, Calls, And Marches and Vs., as well as a few obscure tracks from Peking Spring, Forget, etc. I think that a couple of new tracks may be debuted as well. If I'm correct, they have a cello as the lead instrument and a female lead singer/cellist. It's sort of chamber folk kinda stuff, as I recall............. Intolerance is the key to this recipe: no lactose or other dairy, and certainly not the milk of human kindness. Add equal parts bile, bullsh*t, and bitter animosity. Stew in their own juices. Force them down the throats of IC subscribers by constantly and repeatedly engaging in vitriolic personal attacks on other listmembers. Accusing them of child abuse or suggesting that public obscentities are directed at them is a plus. Top them off with self justification and revisionist history.
