High Voltage Anyone else out there like Danger! High Voltage by Electrix Six? Yeah, I know it's dead trashy, but I think it's really funny. Sure there's probably loads of reasons why I shouldn't like it, but I just love the way that it sounds like a glam racket one minute and then touches on 70's disco the next. And the vocals sound like White Punks On the Dope and the sax like The Day the World Turned Dayglo*. Yep. A great pop single - and with it's airplay and NME support, it's gonna be a hit, too! Keith *Personally I find this great news. Maybe the sax will return from it's Careless Whisper 80's nightmare and be played like it used to be. That is not so bloody 'tastefully'... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Jan 2003 15:04:44 -0500 From: "Eric Klaver" Subject: RE: [idealcopy] Reviewed; It was later based on Fun? Calla According to the PR, they > "understand the way in which the dirtiness of rock intersects the world of > high art." WIRE fans might find that phrase rings familar bells, I wonder if the FlagBurning event might combine High Rock with some Dirty Art? and I'd > unreservedly recommend this band to anyone who likes WIRE. even I am tempted. >It might be worth > touting the fact that drummer & rhythm programmer Wayne Magruder used to play > in Bowery Electric whose Beat album was a Colin Newman favourite, and who > Immersion remixed on the Vertigo double CD. Bowery Electric were pretty good. Their first two LPs can sit snugly with Silo, or some of Colins experiments on the Swim Team CDs. Not quite sure what went wrong with their piss-poor 3rd LP, which sounds like Morcheeba-Lite Car-Advert music that even Moby would baulk at. ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V6 #9 *****************************
