(note to self: resume near-lifelong quest to find out what the colors' label, monsters in orbit, released other than those 2, the one million fuzztone guitars 7" & the bee vamp single.) speaking of manchester outfits, anything know anyone about an early '80s band called gods gift? all i've ever heard by them is a postpunk stormer called discipline on (i think) new hormones ... the b-side didn't make a dent, though, so it must've been a few levels below. dan ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Jan 2003 00:11:38 -0600 From: "dan bailey" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] ltm releases? >In a message dated 12/31/02 11:00:08 PM, MarkBursa@aol.com writes: > >>In my current ancillary role as eminence grise to LTM I have suggested >>them - >>along with Five or Six and Pink Military - for future releases. >> must dig out my copies of perspectives & distortions & the extended 2cd pillows & prayers to check out the former ... can't say they ring any sort of bell with me. hmm ... perhaps a numbers comp might be in order. if memory serves (my back's still too bad to allow me to go diggiing through the "s" bins slid under my couch) there's an extant band called six by seven. way back when we had 1-2-3, 4 be 2, 2.3 (wonder if they ever recorded anything else besides that 7" on fast? for that matter, did anyone besides modern english on the the presage[s] comp -- like psykotik tanks, spasmodic caress & c:v:o -- ever do anything else? & back to fast, what about flowers? as for the scars, i suppose their later ties to charisma rule them out ... ) & probably others. geez, this is all starting to sound like an algebra problem, which means it's way past time to go to bed. though of course before doing so i also have to invoke boots for dancing & manicured noise, at the very least. & to add that pink military would definitely be a worthwhile endeavor ... besides (he said selfishly), i think i'm missing at least a couple of b-sides -- whatever's not on the lp & the blood & lipstick 12". dan ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Jan 2003 00:24:00 -0600 From: "dan bailey" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] ltm releases? >> > >>not to mention a band i've never heard a note by but have >> > always found fascinating from reviews -- the dancing did.<< >> >> Amazing band, and completely overlooked. So, I was ecstatic over the holiday to finally track down a copy of the Gof4's Peel sessions, which are much more like it - I've had one on tape for 23 years and I can now lay it to rest. The live sound quality is pretty good and this was their annus mirabilis so this is a must-have on its own. The sound on the album is pretty good too - I've only owned it on vinyl up to now.
