Graham mentioned this in conversation in Brighton - that they'd be doing Pink Flag plus new material, hence the flag burning title. I didn't mention it on the list as Colin said it was still unofficial at the time. There are other things planned for later in the year, but best wait till it's official... don't want to be stealing Wire's thunder now... Check out Michael Clark performing new stuff in The Barbican the night before Wire. Well worth a look I reckon. Bloody expensive if you plumb for top price tickets both nights, hittin' the fifty quid mark... which is nearly double that in our euro chocolate money. My R&B hitlist: Trash/Treasure Comet Germ Ship Read and Burn In The Art Of Stopping Ist Fast These are my faves. The rest I like, of course, but these ones are killers. Spent is obviously a favourite of Wire's as it's what they chose to represent themselves on the Wire tapper CD. So, no suprises if that's on the album. Kidney Bingos for the zeros ? Well, KB was pretty weak I think, Wire-lite. I'd be inclined to agree with Bill when he says that Boiling Boy and Follow The Locust are a lot better. FTL is a gem, the only track I really like on that album, apart from Boiling Boy, the melody lines are just delicious. Though Spent is not my favourite from the new stuff, it's way better than KB. The Barbican generally has a multi-tiered ticketing system as it's a big seated hall - so top whack gets you within shouting distance whereas bottom dollar seats you at the back - not the end of the world (I was in the back row for Sigur Ros' 'Odin's Raven Magic' and enjoyed it a good deal) but some way away. another the Keith ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Dec 2002 19:48:34 -0000 From: "Keith Knight" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] flag : burning hamburger hell The Chapman's 'Hell' - a huge, swastika shaped diorama, with specially made toy models brutalising each other in period costume inside big display cases - is undeniably impressive and was the best thing at the Royal Academy's Brit Art summary 'Sensation' a few years ago IMO and is presumably one of the items on display in Groningen.
