The Police are one of those bands that I think I hate, but actually like quite a few singles by (though De DoDo is *definitely* not one of them!). And they finally made a decent album with Synchronicity, though admittedly I haven't heard it in yrs. I think it was Dave McCullough of Sounds that was amazed that Sting could write something as good as Synchronicity 2. And I've known a few people that thought Every Step You Take had a Joy Division beat. The Police were, however, bollocks when I saw them live circa '79.
