Aw leave Peely alone. He is a force for good. Wire are on national Radio 1! The ol' bugger nearly caught me out, for a minute I > was worried the emergency Oasis presale preschool cool payola hit song 'Blur > is dead and the Indian Mystical Shit is Smokin' on me Mango Man' might kick > in, BUT NO. WIRE was GO! Bill is referring to the fact that if the Radio 1 signal goes dead for more than a few seconds an 'emergency' tape of 'Roll With It' by Oasis used to kick in. This once happened during a live broadcast by Mogwai which I was taping. I did laugh. Marc Radcliffe has tried to cause this happen many times on his afternoon show by getting Marc Riley (ex Fall) to do a 'Stop...............Carry On!' shout with 3 minute silence in between. But someone at R1 seems to have gotten wise to this so R1 just broadcasts silence...which is wondeful! Slower than live, not as > heavy as R&B02. My favourite version of this is certainly the one they played > at ATP, as recorded by BBC and played by Peel. I do like to hear the Pro-tooled, Mac-mangled R&B Tracks re-created live by the 'Beat Group'. The Peel Session has more urgency and energy than the recorded versions. Band plays computer. Hope Wire get this and apply to the 'ultimate' R&B. > > Just after stormin Fist Farts Mary Anne gobshite comes on air at Peel wingding > going on about oh yeh wer huh me always love WIRE so much uh! So how come she > never plays them on radio? Hole and AC / DC are so much better aren't they? She said she loved Wire but She'd no idea that they had reformed. She must have never read a single Music mag for the last 2 1/2 years or looked near the 'W' section in a record shop. PostEverything should forward a copy of R&B1 and 2 to Mary Anne ASAP and maybe she'll spin 'em and the Korn kids will ditch the 'Kurt Cobain RIP' hooded tops for a '154' T-Shirt. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Sep 2002 20:40:37 -0700 From: "jaime janzen" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] hooray for bbc....or not That catapulting thing must have been hilarious. Ah yes. The delectably named Dino Dines, who I'm afraid I once mobbed
(Manchester 1976). He did a very good impersonation of someone who couldn't
speak English, though I suspect this was more to avoid getting into a
conversation with a very excitable 15 yr old and his mates, rather than any
real shortcomings in the English language.

But you're right the tea cosy was a good move. As was the basebal cap that
accompanied his shaving his beard off for the ITV Marc show a few months
later.

Shame the Beeb wiped some of the performances - especially that Teeneage
Dream performance where Bolan rose up from the ground on a star. Interesting
fact here. Depending on how much Bolan had upset the roadies, governed how
much 'spring' they put in the star. One day he'd been a real twat, so they
sprung it as hard as they could. So instead of rising slowly he was
effectively catapulted across the stage!

Thanks for the Lowdown. I have been dying to see this film. I have the
only relevant single (here to stay) which I love, and have considered
watching a bootlegged version of it before it this the disc and tape. Maybe
I will wait. Mostly I wanted to reply because you said "poop". That has
been one of my favorite words since my mom busted me swearing when I was
five.

Yes, it is. So you know a bit how I look like & what i'm doing when not
writing e-mails at work (as a layout designer). In-direct Enquiry ?
;0)

Listening to the Peel Session now (thanks Paul), the tracks are great,
except 'I Don't Understand', really flat and messy...
