Entering at ~10:15 during the opening band's bass maximus, I was under Metro's balcony next to the mixing boards with 1st beer in hand. Sh!t for sight, I camped just inside the main way against the wall (which was moving an inch or two with the bass) with the brainwave of yelling "another the Keith" between numbers as an IC member (perhaps Robert Lynn) homing beacon. Even tho 1st in the void shouting "another the Keith" several times on both left / right main & balconys, no response. I even tried "another the Paul" and a barrage of both with "where's Robert?". Realising the beer & nearing the Wire, I bingoed the kidneys ahead of the crowd & took ideal vantage point behind Bruce on balcony. Wire fans from Kansas City next to me were ecstatic jumping about seeing Wire for the first time (possible future ICers, if they remember pinkflag link). The reviews of recent postings save from me rehash ... but I must say how savory the new buzz buzz was. Afterwards, as toast, met up with Miles, Charles & Mary, Dave (=Rayo?), and the many faces of Wire unwinding. Remarkable speed of thought, presence of being & foresight, heads on tight, and understandably business like time / schedule guardians as per ~ 2AM. Time will tell if another Angela Conway / BG collaboration happens, Bumpy astonds Billboard (my prediction ... with Colin & Malka illuminating, watch out!), Guru Lewis cures my soul and Robert finds new ways to feed us nurishment. Good guys all! Regards, voyteck "what did he say, ... 'another DePaul'? 'where's Robert'? He's lost ... probably having severe university flashbacks of Wir or som'thin 1991" LOL!!! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Sep 2002 00:00:28 -0400 From: Eardrumbuz@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] RE: It's your table In a message dated Mon, 16 Sep 2002 10:00:45 PM Eastern Standard Time, voyteck@webtv.net writes: > I even tried "another the Paul" sorry i didn't hear you where i was standing (in new york), but maybe if someone else yells that on wednesday i will :o) - -paul (another the paul) c.d. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Sep 2002 23:11:10 -0500 (CDT) From: voyteck@webtv.net Subject: [idealcopy] RE: Another the Paul It's fun to improvise, as such aside from making a PA out of oneself, how else to draw attention? Chicago's already lost O'banions (condemed) & LaMere (fire). O'Banions floor was so bad it was almost like dancing on a wooden topped trampoline ... the good ole daze! Very 1st Wizards (Tom Heck / 1980) original Wells Street location of "The Exit" DJ, voyteck Memorable moment: Playing 12xu immediately before a band started, and having the vocalist say something to the effect: "12xu ... Thank you, .... now how are we supposed to follow that?" They had a dedicated Indie page - that's where Dome showed up, and got a good review, sat next to a slagging of a solo album by the psychedelic furs synth player. Unfortunately the magazine took a bit of a nosedive and finally folded, I think about five or six years ago. (Note no problem remembering magazine content from Feb 1981 - it had Midge Ure on the cover - but big problems remembering when and in what order events happened in the 1990s).
