Hollands biggest mistake: Once owning Manhattan and then trading it for Surinam [wich turned out our own little coke-shop]. - - 1626 Dutch purchase Manhattan from the Native Americans for $24. - - 1664 English capture New Amsterdam and rename it New York. - - 1665-66 Dutch recapture New York. - - 1667 the New Netherlands were given to the English and in exchange the Dutch received Surinam. - - 1782 Dutch become first to officially recognize nationhood of the United States, and first to float loans to the United States. Many names of quarters and streets in New York were made by the Dutch and changed by the English later. Harlem = Haarlem (Dutch town), Brooklyn = Breukelen (Dutch town). Wallstreet = Walstraat. Long Island = Lange Eiland. Imagine THAT, New Yorkers! You could've all spoken Dutch, smoke pot a lot and stick your thumbs up dikes. This works very well for me, as I can't afford to be sick. DISCLAIMER: read & follow directions on the product you use; if you begin to see "stars", your very done and should seek fresh air asap (your "smeller" sense may be dull). Go about your business thereafter and prepare for a good night's sleep. You will awake with phlegm and deep voiced, however, after your morning hygiene regime & breakfast, you should be tons better, if not well and have forgotten being sick. Worst case scenario if the cleaning agents haven't killed you or simply doesn't work, at least you were productive and have a clean tub & shower to show for yourself! Win / win, if for only a suggested R/X! (works 4 me) As for the Chicago show, I'm highly curious as who may show up ... did I say The Who? They have some time off from their present tour and Chgo may be an R&R stop ... as long as I'm rolling along, The Rolling Stones are playing Chgo's Comiskey Park (home of Chgo White Sox) tonight Sept 13 and (Chgo's) smaller Aragon Ballroom Monday Sept 16 ... what / where might they do with tomorrow & Sunday in perhaps a favorite tour town of theirs? Ah ..., the speculation of a "dreamer's" convergence ... nah, it'll never happen! Haven't heard from Charles (from the old WMO / US) since his offerings of Wire rarities & memorabilia on eBay closing in almost a year ago ... still out there Charles? Funny thing was, I fell in love with the Fall as well. I went from liking complete crap to liking weird British crap. Now i listen to the entire Dome 12 34 collection and sing it all day long. "On the third week, on the third week. Oh feeling the strain..." Funny how things work out. The only radio song I remember getting any air here was Ahead. Until later albums came out anyway. Wire never caught on here. I think that is why they cancelled the show with Erasure. They needed a break and probably felt that no one would miss them.
