Huh? I was at that show. There was no Drill. That last song was a very Drill-like version of Pink Flag. It sounded to me like they were shouting "How many dead or alive?" Although, for all I know, they could have also asked whether or not it was indeed a Drill. Yahoo! I feel that I have entered a sacred domain where everyone has been for eternity and I am wondering around looking like a deer in the headlites. And the locals (everyone on the list) is wondering "who is this guy???" So I will tell you. A friend of mine suggested I join this list, he said it was a great source of info. Well, let me tell you who I am and I hope I have something to contribute. Wire is in myh top three of all time fav's. It joggles up there with Smashing Pumpkins and Joy Division/New Order. The first Wire I ever bought was The Ideal Copy. A friend of mine bought it by mistake thinking it was some other band. The rest is history. I am very proud of my Wire collection. To the average fan, it is massive. To the collector, it is respectable. To me, it is insufficient. I have most of what I want and the other I will get to sooner or later, or it is limited and gone (like The Third Day). Living in Salt Lake City Wire is a strange and forbidden fruit. No one here knows who they are, but they may know Eardrum Buzz. To the best ofmy knowledge, they have never played here. Their one scheduled appearance was cancelled a few days before the show leaving about 7 people mad about seeing Erasure for the 5th time. I did make it to Denver to see the show last Friday. I have written about that one, but I will say it was one of the best show I have seen ever. If anyone is interested, I will send a list of what Wire related things I have. I am also very willing to share with the understanding that what I share cannot be purchased in any way, or is vinyl only, or so rare that getting it can be forgotten. I fully support paying the musicians that deserve it. I also could use some help if anyone knows where any copies of The Third Day exist I would like to pick one up. I am a bit late on that one. Thanks for letting me listen in. Take plenty of photos/video at the Wire gigs ! Get right up front... be their eyewitness ! Document the shows ! Be part of their history ! Send your scans to Craig (wireviews@yahoo.com)... you never know, some of these shots may end up in the reprint of Everybody Loves A History... (hope I'm not being too presumptious here Kevin...)
