Neil Spencer also wrote a book about astrology and what people do with it, 'True as the Stars Above'. It came out a couple of months after a book I wrote along similar lines - 'Astrology in the Year Zero' - and promptly snaffled most of my sales, due to its being half the price, and pushed by a major label - er, publisher. Needless to say, my book's loads better though! Neil S turns up at the occasional astrology conference etc, and seems like a regular guy. Garry P. From what I recall, the review >was fairly dismissive, but did make the point that Wire's lyrics made >Leonard Cohen's seem like Enid Blyton. >Mark S Hello Mark S and Gary, I've got a slightly different recollection of this, if it is the same review we are thinking of. The track `Life in the Manscape' was described as `a hit single in a parallel universe' which I thought was a pretty good description. I seem to remember there were a few reviews along the lines of Lush's Miki Berenyi guest review of In Vivo (which I've brought up here before) saying essentially why do these old buggers not give up and go away. But my general recollection is that Wire stuff was reviewed with polite interest - as distinct from solo material which was often mercilessly trashed due to its (often) more experimental nature. On another subject, I can't believe you folk have been discussing your bleedin' star signs! Honestly, I take a week's holiday and all manner of hippy-dipshit, tie-dyed soft headedness breaks out in my absense. The best way to expose astrological enthusiasts, I've found, is to ask them to guess your star sign. The last time I tried this the person got it right - at the seventh attempt. I was most impressed. And don't even get me started on tarot. '50s sf flicks (just saw "signs," btw -- hokily consummated, but
