[From: Bart van Damme > But no matter where you are in the > world let's all band together as Ideal Copyists and root for the downfall of the French !!!! Found on the net: Anybody else remember a 7" EP that came out on Virgin ca. 1980 on bubble-gum pink vinyl by a guy calling himself "Sir John Dowie", or some such. It was a freebie inside a 10" "Live at the Electric Circus EP", I believe. Had a hilarious song on it called "British Tourist", about hating the Dutch: "I'm a British tourist . . . .] Bart, thanks for reminding me! I found this single in the early '80s. For years I was looking for something by John Dowie called "A Recipe for Hitler's Liver." A friend had taped it off the radio. Never found it. This was one of my favorite things from a favorite sub genre of British punk which I guess one could call demented working class surrealism. Another thing like this my friend taped off the radio (this was late night program called Void Where Prohibited that played nothing but the latest punk singles, the well-known and the obscure) was "Is God A Man?" by Arthur Comix--never found this on vinyl, either. Great stuff that won't be remembered in punk. The Argument is pretty amazing, IMHO. I will admit that I only own their later CDs, not their early ones, so I might not be the best authority for this. They're all on the list to pick up soon. (^_^) The nice thing about Fugazi is that all of their CDs are in print from their record label, Dischord, at very reasonable prices: http://www.dischord.com Dischord even prints their price on the back of all their CDs with instructions on how to order it directly from them if your local CD store is charging too much. (This goes for all bands Dischord represents - not just Fugazi.) I've heard about this - they call it "ethics" or something.
