Bloody awful. They have a similar attitude to the Hives, a 'you must love us' approach. Whereas with the Hives this can come across as funny (although quickly wears) with this lot it's just preening narcissism. There's lots of on and off stage movement (the guitarist regularly wades into the audience) but they do nothing to earn the adulation they crave and the music is one dimensional guitar songs. The audience was interestingly unmoved - no mosh pit developed, which I found encouraging. They have such a great name too - although where the Can influence comes in is a mystery to me. Fortunately support band Sonic Rival saved the night. A fivepiece dressed all in white, they came across as the band 1981 needed but never had. Keyboards (played by a young man with a beard) and beats reminded me of the Cabs and DAF at times. The singer (who doesn't play an instrument) is angry, which is rare to see nowadays. Recommended. another the Keith ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V5 #163 *******************************
