(i didn't get to see them at their early 80's peak, but did spend a very enjoyable evening watching them a few yrs later on the tour they did with fuzzbox and ted chippington. ted and the nightingales all performed 'rockin with rita' at the end if i remember correctly). incidentally when i first heard the smiths, on the strength of the 'hand in glove' 45 i thought they were gonna be more like the new nightingales than a major pop act! > let's hope the support act is better than the > last time I went to a gig with Rabjohn and Bursa. who was that then??? keith ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Apr 2002 20:43:10 +0100 From: "Keith Astbury" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] top 10 wire albums > Wire: It's all in the brochure, 154 and Coatings. > Wire: The first letter. > Dome: 12. > Colin: Not to and Bastard. > Immersion: Low impact. > Hox: It-ness. > Bruce: This way to the shivering man. > > C off the top of my head i think this is 'bastard's first showing. Fine albums! (it seems the bulk of the royalties that they receive still come from the first three albums though). I also rated Nosferatu. Two of my favourite bands at the time were The Stranglers and Devo. So to find out that the Mothersbaugh brothers were guesting on Cornwell's venture was massive news for me. Good track too (Rhythmic Itch). There was a rumour in the NME around the time that Devo were to join The Stranglers for a one-off show around winter 79/80 or thereabouts. I think Punilux might also have been touted, although the thing bever happened. Would've been a great show though. Can anybody give me a phonetic rendering of Mothersbaugh?
