Playing the voice of dissent a bit here, I didn't think too terribly much of the previews. I'm hoping it was just the lo-fo nature of the stream, but I found the songs rather tame or even "normal" for Wire. That is, the songs were perfectly listenable and enjoyable, but I tend to expect something a few degrees off-center from Wire and didn't get that from the couple listens I gave the tracks. That said, even average Wire is better than most band's best shot. My initial disappointment was one of expectations, I suppose. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Apr 2002 12:27:07 -0400 From: "Stephen Graziano" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] A nice present! I remember the warning sticker. I found my copy of Pink Flag in an EJ Korvettes (a Macy's like department store, which according to folk wisdom got its name from its founding consortium of Eleven Jewish Korean War Veterans) back in 77(?). It was kind of weird, (in this pre PMRC era) sort of on the line of "we like this record and hope you do too, but must warn you that some language, esp on Field Days and Mr. Suit might be objectionable ..." Anyway, that's how I remember it, 30+ years on. The sticker didn't last long as it disappeared with the wrapping as soon as I got it home.
