Just what it says. Wire has produced a video to accompany one of the new pieces on the six-tracker. BTW, as some of you might have noticed, the Wire news also appeared on Wireviews, which is now working on a 'bulletin' basis until further notice. I got 'Yclept' (Dome) and 'Alone on Penguin Island' (Desmond Simmons) cd's today c/o WMO. Well the two for 15 quid offer as too good to turn down... Which brings me to my poser. I knew that 'Yclept' featured a track recorded for Michael Clarke ('Because We Must') and thought that this was the track I heard Ballet Rambert dancing to in the 80's. However, it can't have been because I'm 99.9% sure I saw Ballet Rambert dancing to a piece recorded for Clarke before the recording date of 1989 provided on the sleeve (I reckon it was about '87 when I saw them though Clarke had left Rambert by this time and they were just doing one of his pieces). It was a great track - I liked it so much I wrote to the NME to ask where it was available only to learn that it wasn't and there was likelihood of it being released at that time. So...if this wasn't 'Because We Must' - anyone any ideas what it was - and did it ever get released anywhere afterwards??? Their style is, among _many_ other things, a folk-rock precurser to alt.country. (I know Willie ended up on at least one early Lucinda Williams recording.) On that album I'm quite fond of the songs She Doesn't Work There Anymore and their cover of Funkadelic's Can You Get To That? I never managed to detect a real Gang of Four feel to it, though I was quite familiar with at least Go4's hits at the time. It's worth the investment of a fin, I'd say. Let me know what you think of it when/if you get it. ~Joseph - -- I don't know just what it's all about Put on your red pajamas and find out. - ------------------------------------------------ Get the award winning ISP, AT&T WorldNet Service http://download.att.net/webtag ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Apr 2003 19:21:13 +0100 From: "David Heale" Subject: [idealcopy] MAKING CONTACT W/NEW TAPE SWOP COLLECTORS.
