I thought there might be some really great guitar on it, but the playing is hardly noticeable. Is it really Johnny Marr??? As far as the first single, it is very poppy and has been getting quite a few plays around here. RL ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2002 14:47:30 EST From: MrSodium@aol.com Subject: [idealcopy] [OT] cd/mp3 tech talk A few folk on the list have revealed themselves to have some tech background, so now they'll (hopefully) illuminate my ignorance. Any help, replies or suggestions can be sent to me off list and are greatly appreciated. I just bought a standalone Samsung cd/dvd combo unit that will also play cd-r's with mp3 tracks. I'm having a problem which, if I can solve by tweaking they player, will save me having to box it up and ship it back to amazon.com; or maybe reburning a couple dozen cds. I have discs made on two systems: one older, one newer. (OS and other details are below). The player works fine with the discs made on the older system: the tracks show up on the screen as discrete units and play back as such. Playback proceeds thru the entire disc without error. The glitch on the newer discs is that the player reads each track as being made up of multiple segments, causing short gaps of silence while the player moves from segment to segment within the same track. Due to this method of reading files, there are thousands of tracks, and the player hangs up as it gets into the tracks in the high hundreds. I'm guessing this has to do with some difference in the way the two systems write data to the discs or in the way the disc is organized at the end of the writing process. Questions: 1. What settings should I use on the newer system to avoid this problem? 2. Can the player be tweaked in any manner to work around this problem? 3. Can I copy the file from an existing cd onto either the new or the old system and reburn it to get a playable disc? Details: 1. Player: Samsung DVD-P401 2. Old system: Compaq Presario running W95. Burner is an internal Pacific Digital 2x24x2. Cd's burned with Adaptec Easy cd creator 3.5 3. New system: Dell Latitude running w2k, with HP USB cd burner. I don't remember the precise generation, but it uses Adaptec software also. Thanks for your support. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2002 17:14:03 -0800 (PST) From: Ari Britt Subject: [idealcopy] Fwd: [Shriek_Digicon] new xtc collection/O'T - --- shriekburk wrote: > To: Shriek_Digicon@yahoogroups.com > From: "shriekburk" > Date: Wed, 20 Mar 2002 09:10:31 -0000 > Subject: [Shriek_Digicon] new xtc collection > Reply-to: Shriek_Digicon@yahoogroups.com > > coming out in April is Coat Of Many Cupboards , a 4 > CD set of > unreleased XTC songs covering the span of their > Virgin records career- > including the Barry Andrews records, White Music > and Go 2.
