Hooks and edge, fire and ice: at their best they had all those things. There's footage from an '82 show (filmed in Heaven, apparently -- of A NIGHT IN HEAVEN fame/shame, perhaps?) on the SWEET DREAMS DVD and VHS, which also includes claymation Dave and Annie bits linking the songs and videos (the vids for "Sweet Dreams" and "Love Is a Stranger" are included, though the former is forced to serve as end music while the credits roll on top of the video! Ack!). Interestingly, the bass player in the '82 live footage is future Curve mastermind Dean Garcia. Curve fans would also like to know (if they don't already) that Toni Halliday's voice is all over Robert Plant's '85 album SHAKEN 'N' STIRRED -- sometimes featured much more prominently than Plant himself! later, Miles ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Mar 2002 17:02:42 EST From: PaulRabjohn@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] questions , questions.......... IIRC it was originally intended to have a classical s/t which would have been far more appropriate. But some bright spark thought a pop promo tie-in would get more bums on the Odeon seats. Bad call. Wire link - many of the scenes for 1984 were filmed on Brick Lane in London - where Wire played the other day. In fact there were Victory Vodka posters on the walls for a while after the film was finished. Too high up to nick one though! As for the Eurythmics, they sounded interesting at first - the German connections especially. Didn't Robert Gorl out of DAF play on some of their early stuff? However the end results were less impressive. Bombastic pop... Mark << It's probably my favorite too!
