SALONFAHIG sorta means cool, hip and presentable, so I guess SALONFAHIGKEIT must be something like "presentability" The 2nd "A" was shown as a "D" because of the "umlaut" difference between MAC & PC. Called something like 'Lazy', it wasn't a bad pop/dance single, though it was only towards the end that Byrne's truly distinctive yelps came to the fore (it had been a more reserved performance till then). Bizarrely enough though, until that point, the two groups it reminded me of were Right Said Fred and Shriekback! If you can imagine the big Fairbrass brothers camping up 'Lined Up' you won't be far off the mark. And it's not every day you can say that !!! (Ari shakes his head in horror!) Great to meet the ideal e-chums for the first time...respect to you all... Not much to add to what Paul and Mark have written about the memorial gig... Charles Hayward was v good...drums & vocals & tapes... reminded me of Keith le Blanc... I also enjoyed Viv Corringham who sounded to me like 'Dead Can Dance'...Mark B had the (dubious)advantage of being in sober driver mode, whereas I had been necking outrageously expensive lagers for 3 hours before Wire made their appearance. So I was akin to one of Robert's organic vegetables by then... 'This' Wire is intense, concentrated power and attitude...awesome Could be a very good year...btw I have a couple of spare free A3 size posters from the show, a little bit of Wire memorabilia if anyone's interested... mail me ofline, first come etc. later A ************************************************************************* The contents of the e-mail and any transmitted files are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
