The second album (and indeed subsequent work) is pants. However the two tracks on the 1980-vintage Second City Statik compilation are well worth having, as you can witness PN's miraculous transformation into the Glasgow Joy Division. Mark << dan, whose most recent listening consists of positive noise's heart of darkness lp on the car's tape deck (can't remember if the one-sided love like property [or something like that] 7" came as a bonus with it or the next lp, not that i've played it yet). not bad, & i'm surprised that they haven't warranted at least a mention in a mick mercer goth retrospective ... the subsequent change of heart is on the flip, but i haven't listened to it yet -- the snatches i heard while taping 'em both over the weekend make me think i won't be bowled over, though. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Feb 2002 15:36:30 GMT From: alistairtear@streetmanagement.org.uk Subject: [idealcopy] This Is London article from alistair This is priceless BONO BORES 'EM AT THE GRAMMYS Bono caused chaos at the Grammy awards in Los Angeles today when he defied all attempts to shut him up, rambling for minutes at a time to the consternation of TV producers and advertisers. I was working at a record store in downtown Mpls. in the early 80s: He comes in and (I swear) asks if we have any Michael Bolton records. I look, and we don't. In the meantime, he's dying for me to recognise him, and I do, but I'm pretending I have no idea. He asks for some other record by a woman (blanking) he wrote a song for. We have that, and he points to his songwriting credit: "I wrote that for her." Tilt of the head, arrogant smile ... waiting, I'm blank. Finally he put out his hand and introduced himself. After that I was polite. >From: MarkBursa@aol.com >Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Re: Embarrassing CDs > ><< From discussions here in the past, it looks like there is no artist, save > Wire, that is liked by everyone, >> > >Joy Division?
