Mark << And, I believe he's using Danelectros because they're actually Baritones and not guitars. Baritones are six stringed instruments pitched midway between a bass and a guitar - usually tuned 1/5th below a standard guitar (a-d-g-c-e-a). (^_^) I actually played one of these beasts. They had 'em at a local Guitar Center (or Centre for the BTB F.C.). Since the strings are exactly a fifth down, you use the exact same chord shapes, it's just that an E chord is actually an A, etc. When I asked the guitar techs if you could tune them higher, they said basically "No - you'll break the strings". They use a heavier gauge string, apparently. However, you can play with standard pitch if you capo the fifth fret. I've been toying with the idea of getting one. They're only $399 list here in the U.S. for the Danelectros. I can accept that Cocteau Twins are not to everyones taste, but to say that (as NME dubbed them when I used to read it) The Appalling Cranes and their whining, sickly ickly girly vocals are in any way superior to Liz Frazer is absurd!
