It included only 2 singles (Cutter & Promise) plus a selection of some of their weakest album tracks (Ocean Rain, My Kingdom, All My Life, Bombers Bay) plus live covers of Paint it Black & that cornball granny fave allyuneedisluv (think I'll stick w/Headcleaner). The cover was a gross photo montage & it had cheapo record label cash in written all over it. I suspect it was aimed at people who thought the atrocious 'Evergreen' album was something special. Maybe the tracks were just selected at random? Obviously, I didn't buy it but did get 'La Luna' by Holger Czukay. Fittingly the moon was out as I walked home. 'La Luna' is described as 'an electronic night ceremony' and Czukay circles deep drones, snake charmer pipes and ritualistic vocal ululations around a continuous simple pulse beat in a single 47:11 track. About 20 minutes in the beat drops out & shifts and the sounds of the deserted seashore invade. When the beat resumed my head was didgeridoo'd! Half an hour in & U-She recites an invocation of the moon. Her delivery and lyrical themes recall Malka Spigel somewhat. It fits in well next to Ocsid & Coil, and I'd recommend it to Can fans unreservedly (especially if Unfinished, Aumgn and Smoke are amongst your favourite tracks). Actually I'd say it's the best thing I've heard from anyone in Can since Smoke, the only essential track off 'Flow Motion', although I haven't yet heard Czukay's 'Movies' which is said to be a corker. A Gilbert / Czukay collaboration would be interesting, especially considering Bruce's TV Spot remix on Sacrilege was the only one that bettered the original! Replace the old with the moon! My first Can album i have owned was Soon Over Babaluma. I think that i didn't care much what was happening with quality of music, i was hooked on that monotony "flowing" on records. I must admit that i wasn't listen that one for a years, wonder how will i react now. Shame that more Can, Czukay etc, songs haven' t been in movies ( regarding the titles Movies ). Song Wenders used in Until The End Of The World was perfectly fit in movie.. strange that he wasn't use more of them.. And Movies was one of albums i played constantly when i have had that on vinyl.. one for uplifting - no mistake !! mileta ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2001 08:35:04 +0100 From: "Mileta Okiljevic" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Banshee Beside Me Marooned Mutations > >> returning to his sisters & kmfdm bootlegs, > > > >did you hear some of sisters new material, in fact some of eldritch wrote > in > >last 10 years..!!? > >what is quality of these songs.. > >war on drugs, summer etc, etc... > > i'm waiting to hear them -- those 2 &, i believe, 7 other "new" ones are on > a live 2cd i got off ebay last week from a seller in greece. friend of mine have bootleg with "new" ones. and promised to me copy on cd-r but... i cannot believe his opinion because he very often " heard " what anyone else are not able.. to cut a long story short - new ones in his opinion are somewhere between floodland & vision thing. hmm, i am not very fond of vision thing, saw them live at first gig when they promote that album. That most famous St.Pauli FC supporter Eldritch start new live life for Sisters here in yugoslavia after hiatus of many years, but wasn' t impressed me much. Great light show, they played well, but something is missing.. maybe that mottley crew in line up one All About Eve, one Generation X/SS Sputnik, one BAD and one semi-metal guitarists doing wrong .. If i told you that i saw Mission just weeks before SoM, also in so-so line up.. and that their gig was carnival and more fun than Sisters you will understand. That day FC Red Star ( equivalent of Jim Kerr & Bruce Springsteen in one in football ) beat Glasgow Rangers 3:0 and in crowd was many drunken RS hooligans and for sure Wayne chant with them from stage, and told few bad things about Rangers.. i cannot remember does i like more Rangers or Celtic that years, but supporting Rangers in that match for sure.. btw, did you hear that Eldritch offer Leonard Cohen to produce his new album.. ha, maybe he will cheer up them in budhist monastery... Mark, what i told you..little more courage and ... i think that Nigel Martin should have his own street in Leeds !!! > > dan ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V4 #324 *******************************
