The Fall did 'Bombast' and 'Cruiser's Creek' circa This Nation's Saving Grace. The only other time they were live they did 'Smile' and (I think) '2x4'. Yes, the new single is excellent. This was the first and only time the series had been repeated since it was first screened in 1967 until C4 showed the whole thing in the early 80s. Astonishing piece of television art. Obviously all this was pre-video so in about 1981 I went to see an all-nighter at the Scala cinema in London, where they showed several episodes. Sadly the audience was full of hippies who had stuck white tape on the lapels of their jackets in a desperate and failed bid to look like number 6, which rather diminished the effect. << > /////in the early days of C4 (maybe 1982?) they showed a one-off random > episode of the prisoner. it really knocked me back , i thought it was maybe > the weirdest thing i'd ever seen. saw the entire series a couple of years > later and i suppose you get used to it , but the initial effect was amazing. > .......maybe its the same thing with 60's movies (not shown much these days in the UK really) , how they let things develop so much more slowly and didn't feel the need to shove everything in your face in the first 3 minutes? guess they're scared to do that now ; dozens of movie channels yet (apart from blando TCM) virtually nothing pre-80's.<< It's pretty sad. they used to show a lot of 60s films in the 80s and 90s.
